Do you mean if itīs possible with the madtracker-sampler or with battery inside madtracker?
Madtrackers sampler isnīt capable of triggering different samples of an instrument with the use of different velocities. Battery however should work fine in madtracker.
Iīve tried edirols superquartet in madtracker, and it uses also velocity-controlled instruments. A different velocity/volume doesīn only change the instrumentīs volume, but triggers also a different sample. Nice for realistic drumkits . |

Simply use the volume column (or the volume commands).

i mean Battery inside MadTracker...
it works fine but it seems to use only one layer (loudest)
Yannick:
as you know a different velocity doesnt only change the instrumentīs volume, but triggers also a different sample
i dont want to control volume, but velocity, i want to use different layer. |

The volume column in the patterns will be translated in a velocity change for VST instruments.

that's nice
will be? not now yet?
it seems like just volume is changed.
maybe i should try harder... maybe im doing something wrong.
you mean volume column? seems like CXX or 0CXXYY commands doesnt work with VST. |

Make sure youīre using a battery-kit that supports velocity triggered layers. You have to load multiple samples of an instrument played at different velocities.
At kvr-vst.com ther is a very nice acoustic sounding drumkit called:
Opti Yamaha YD OKM , you should try it (You have to register first though.) |

Hereīs a link, so you donīt have to register.
Also read the text-file included with it, the author of this drumkit wasnīt satisfied with drumkit from hell, so he sampled his own .
(By the way, for non-battery-users: The drumkit contains a lot of *.wav files which you can use in madtracker as well.) |

You can't change "volume" on a specifik note when speaking of midi, just velocity, so there's only one midi message to send, when speaking aboute "volume" and that's velocity . So there must be some other bug. |

I donīt really understand whatīs the problem. I always thought that the volume (in the volumecolumn) of a note stands for the velocity of that note in midi-terms.
Iīve tried battery again yesterday and it responded like it should on different volumes(or velocities). |

Me neither, but I've not tried Battery ... Velocity is not necessary the same thing as volume btw. Sometimes the Cutoff changes when changing velocity. For example som patches I have on my BassStation Rack (hardware)..

Yeah but that only happens when you program your bass-station to modulate the cut-off on velocity changes...
I use it all the time!
So it does work...
But xnme, it's the volume column, not the effect columns...
I read your post earlier and you were talking about Cxx fastracker fx's but those don't work you need to enter info in the volume column to be translated to velocity info for the vst...
hth!

So we need 13 posts to come to the conclusion that Velocity is just a lame hardwarename for volume?
Imagine how long it will take us to figure out what the equivalent of midi CC codes in software is!
