My first "real" trance song

Yesterday i had some great idea for a tune while driving my car back home ...
So i really could'nt wait to put that idea into MT Smile

This is the song 've created, tried to put as much of the feedback i had on my previous tracks into this one ... (since i'm having a bit of trouble finishing the other ones, sounds familiar ?? Laughing)

I'm very intrested in the feedback i get on this one ...
I try to improve my skills day by day , i hope this is a improvement as wel .. I think this is my first real go for the trance genre .... An early release that is ...

Sounds very good! Definetly improvements from your previous tracks Cool

The track has some elements that I would call typical as far as trance goes. The strings for instance sound very typical. However, in this case that doesn't bother me because even if they have the typical sound, since they're not over the top. You have managed to balance the volumes of the instruments very well. You're perhaps a bit shy on the bass area though.

One instrument that bothers me is the swooshing pad (cut-off automated?). It's not that it's bad, but perhaps the cutoff range is a bit too wide (goes from very low to high). This causes it to get too much attention imo. Sometimes it is justified though, but often it just takes attention from the real lead. This instrument is however the reason this track reminded me of an old trance tracks from the mid 90's called "Song of liberation" by Para-Dizer. Very good track, so take that as a compliment Smile

I like the break very much, mainly because it introduces that very cool muffled trumpet sound (which reminded me of some Kai Tracid tracks). The track is suitably long also, it manages to stay interesting all the way through.

Nice work in short Smile I'd say give this one a rest for a couple of weeks or a month, then get back to it and polish it up.

Very Happy Thanx sunbuster for this nice and motivating feedback.

About the pad, i think i was a bit 2 lazy on that one , instead of using track automation, i simply used the filtering preset of the VST (Korgs Polysix), so the filtering (and cut of settings) are part of the instrument (preset) setting so it's not dynamic enough, sometimes it's a bit "over the top", i agree with that Smile. I think i have to adapt the preset to a "narrower" sertting and use the track automation for the wider parts in the song, good point Smile ...

For now i will give it a rest, listen it after a few weeks and give it some more work to really finish it of.

Thanx sunbuster !!!!

Nice work, I like it.

Yet I feel that the drums are lacking. I would try a longer snare and a more streched and less clicking kick. I also like to hear some kind of breakbeat or something to give the beat more variation.

Keep working! Smile
