|
I have a lot (and I really do mean a lot) of .xi-files that I use with MT. The problem is it's very unconvenient to browse through them all in search of the right sound.
My question: Are there any audioplayer (preferably with a playlist-function) that handles .xi-files? Or is there any way to convert .xi-files (preferably not one by one) to other more common formats? |

I can't find it, but I remember that Sunbuster had a solution once that enabled you to listen to .xi-samples while browsing through them. Something with an empty instrument or sample or something. Can someone kick Sunbuster to this thread, please?

Might be a nice plugin or something ( not an VST but an addition to madtracker )that let's you browse the xi's in the sample browser, or let's you convert them to .mti's...

Seems my old trick doesn't work anymore as the browser interface has changed. But here's a semi-fast way to do it:
1. in the config, untick the box that says "confirm on deleting linked samples"
2. create a new empty instrument
3. Open the browser (Ctrl+b) and find your xi directory
4. double click on an xi (it will get loaded into the instrument currently selected, in this case the empty instrument. Since the confirmation is not active it won't nag you about deleting linked samples every time you do this.)
5. hit F12 to give the pattern editor focus again
6. play the instrument
repeat 3-6 until you find the XI you want.
Previously it was even easier, because the pattern editor somehow kept the focus of the keyboard. Thus when you double clicked a XI to load it you could immediately play it also, without having to leave the browser. Guess something changed on the way from 2.3 to 2.5 ... |
