|
Hi!
I am having an annoying problem with a VST Intrument, and hope that perhaps one of you could give me a hint on how to solve it. I also have to admit that I'm sort of a newbie when it comes to VST and midi.
Ok, here's the situation: In my Song I have a track to which two bass VSTs are assigned (Superwave and EVM Bassline). During my song, I use Superwave for long bass notes, and EVM Bassline for the main beat.
Now EVM Bassline is my problem.
At a certain point in my song, when I want to have the EVM Bassline play again, the "Key off" notes don't act as they should, but are actually played back using the last note value, but at one octave higher(?). Ok, here's how it looks like visually:
Should play like:
"Key off"
---
---
---
C-3
---
---
---
"Key off"
---
---
---
C-3
---
---
---
"Key off"
---
. . . and so on
Plays like:
"Key off"
---
---
---
C-3
---
---
---
C-4
---
---
---
C-3
---
---
---
C-4
---
. . . and so on
Note that the firt "Note off" works, as it stops the previously played Superwave. Exactly when this situation is given, I encouter this problem. Is there a command to switch off a VST Intrument (like I can turn a VST on and off manually from each VST-Interface), a specific MidiCC perhaps? Turning the track on and off would also work, but of course only if it could be somehow automated. I tried using a different Track for each of the VST Intruments, but got the same result.
Does anyone understand my question?
Greetings,
Alex |

Are you using the same channel for the two basses? If, so try to separate them into their own dedicated channels - if this is not the case try to replace the VST and see if the problem is related to one specific VST. If the problem remains even if you have tried other VSTs - try writing here again. |

So, I believe he already did so...
Well, if you can't get the note off to work, maybe you can automate the volume of that instrument to simulate a note off? Also, just for interest, have you tried using those two VST's in the same manner in a clean track to see if the problem reappears there?
EDIT: Another thing that just hit me. Are you routing the output of this track to some other track? I think I remember having similar problems to what you describe when I did that and had some notes playing in the track I was routing to also. Just a thought... |

Hi again! I am very happy to receive so many suggestions to my problem, thank you all!
Ok, I experimented a bit and...

Yes, it works!!! Although I tried using a different Track for each of the VST Basses, I only assigned the VSTi to a new track, keeping the notes from both basses in the same track. I guess I should have been more precise in my explanation.
By the way, I also found out that using a second instance of
EVM Bassline Plug-in works too.
Many thanks, and happy new year!
