Drum pattern sync

How can I sync the drum pattern number with the main song patterns? The way it works now is the drum pattern stays on 00 when the song pattern switches to the next. If I manually switch the drum pattern as the song is playing, at the end of the current song pattern, the drum pattern reverts to 00.

There are two switches to change the pattern number. One is for the main patterns and one is for the drum patterns. You can find those arrow buttons right beside the pattern list in the upper right corner.

Hope that helps. Smile

Thanks for the tip but it still doen't sync the 2 patterns.

For example, in my main song window I have Pattern 00 followed by Pattern 01. If I click Module > Play, it will play the patterns sequentially and after Pattern 01 has played it will loop.

In my drums window the Pattern doesn't switch from 00 to 01 at the same time that the song pattern does, which is what I want it to do. It just keeps playing the same drum pattern over and over. I'm sure there must be a way to do this.

You need to increase the length of your drum pattern to match the main pattern. After you open up the drum pattern editor you should have a box up in the left corner of the drum pattern editor where it says Lng and then a number (default 64). Set this to the same as the main pattern length and your drum patter should be synced.

But if you say it keeps playing the same drum pattern over and over, then you should read BeatMax' post again, because he answered the question on how to change the drum pattern number. Just to make it clear, you need to select the main pattern before you can change the drum pattern for it.

I guess you got the right solution Sunbuster. If the drumpattern is to short it starts to loop. You can save unusual drum pattern notes this way. If you set the drumpatterns length to the same length as the song pattern it should perfectly sync.

sorry guys, but it still doesn't work. The patterns are both set at 48. I have 3 drum patterns and 3 main patterns. When I do module > play, the main patterns play sequentially and the drum patterns remain on 00. I really don't get why it does not work.

If say during the middle of the second main pattern playing I manually hit the arrow of the drum pattern so it goes to 01, at the end of that main pattern, when it's about to go to pattern 03, the drum pattern reverts to 00 and stays there forever, and of course the main pattern goes to 03.

Could it maybe have somethingto do with ticks?

Sounds weird... Can you show a screenshot of your pattern list? Or perhaps upload the module somewhere and give us a link, so we could take a look?

I agree, that could be a help to understand your problem.

Here they are:

actual module: http://rentersfreeway.com/mat_4e_sample.rar

I'm not sure the samples are included in the archive, hopefully they are, but if they aren't let me know and i can upload the individual samples for the drum track.

thanks

perhaps it is because your main patterns are all the same number? click the right upper arrow next to the pattern list to change this.

what is hip?

Actually, it's the drum pattern numbers that are all the same. Wink No wonder your drum pattern loops. But the fix is the same (and thus BeatMax' first post was correct), click the right set of up-down arrows to change the drum pattern nr for a selected main pattern (see this screenshot).

EDIT: note that the grey area in the pattern list isn't the actual selected pattern, it just shows the current position in the song.

Thanks, there are too many arrows and the numbers for the drum patterns are so small I didn't notice them.
