Posted: Tue Apr 11 2006 09:13 A nice, light track |

This is something I'm working on. A friend of mine came up with a melody, and I'm working on my own version of it, and this is what I've got so far. It's very gentle and slow, I hope you find it pleasant!

Thoughts, comments, criticisms, all welcome!
P.S. All those clicks and such in the intro are supposed to be a record being loaded into a record player |

Very chill, only thing i would do different is the instrument @ 1:20, sounds a bit low-fi to me
but anyway very chill |

Thanks very much for the reviews! I'm working on a possible alternative for that instrument you hear at 1:20... it might work out, or it might not. I'm also working on making it longer, but I'm terrible at structure. Anyone know how I can get better at it? |

nice track mate! its really chilled out, the chords are nice and the claw lead is also cool. you could try softening the claw lead a little which may suit the track better.
as for structure, i used to have no idea with that and just repeat the same thing for 10 minutes, but if you have a verse and a chorus then do intro-verse-chorus-verse-chorus-outro (or whatever order you want and sounds good).

I think the melodics are good on this one, nice vibe, good samples... but the drums? I'm hesitant, to say the lest. The samples stand out to much and sound misplaced. The kicks and the snare variations are to fast.
For the structure I think this track just needs to flow. Adding ligth drums and swiching between pads and leads I think would be suiting.
You've got a nice track going! |

yeah, I usually have the most trouble building suitable drums. Luckily, these are Natural Studio ones, and they've got multiple samples of each drum in varying intensities. I'll try to kick 'em down a notch. As well as the claw lead.
Thanks, you guys! I'll re-upload it when I'm happy with the results. |
