Aw, no VST. And Yannick is still not on the list. D:
I like the sounds of this part-length, though. Around a minute per artist at max, with 21-and-counting participants? Win! |

The no vst rule is mainly to prevent cpu chaos (Imagine 22+ artists using 1-4 vsts each). Start eating geisha bars:)
You can always use vsts when you are making your samples for the chainsong. |

Vst's, are unfortainatly, not an option in such project
Like Pyrozane already mentioned, the cpu usages is a big point on this, but even more inportant....
- Which vst's should we alow? every chainer schould have all used vst's, we don't want to force people to download several files! (no one wil join if we demand such things )
But most inportant:
- We have only 64 tracks! It is already very complex building a track with over 20 people, using track effects alone! , inmage adding vst's. it's gonna be one big mess!
Vst's are a great adition to boost your mt2 track, and I feel sorry for us not alowing you to use that 6th gear on our madtracker car were building together. But...
With this kind of proporsitions, we think we can only use vst's if we have acces to like 128 tracks (this is the case if 20-30 people joining)
I'm confident you guys can make a briliant chainsong without the use of vst's
Saying that, I have to notice what Pyrozane said above, use vst's to tune up your samples, and import those in the track
Ok guys, were looking good, how about you ?
Greetings

About vst's part two: another problem is that if people want to use the same vst that a previous person used, they might change the parameters of it, and by doing so alter the entry of any previous person who used that effect or synth. Everyone would therefore have to copy vst's, leading to, oh, sixtymillionseventhousandeighthundredandtwentythree plugins in the final .mt2-file. That's no problem, ofcourse, since Yannick will provide all participants with a Tyan dual AM2-board and 16 gigs of DDR2-memory, but still. It's so messy, you know. |

It's gonna be exciting to see what comes out of this years chain. Is this the most participants so far in the chain history, anyone recall? |

In last chain about 21 artists made a part to the chainsong, but around 26 people signed up. With this signup rate I guess its going to be the bigest chain so far? Atleast I hope and think so:)
We are also hoping to set a MT forum post record on this forum tread also, like we did in the last chainsong if I'm not mistaken? |
