I've been introduced to the world of Reason by a friend of mine who thinks its great. Apparently it costs 1500 US dollars to buy. But I think its sound quality is amazing.
Do you think Reason sound quality is superior to Madtracker's VST??? |

naah, don't think there's a difference, not at least $1460 worth. You can get great sound quality out of MadTracker also. It's just a matter of using the right VST's/samples/instruments and settings, and hardware of course. I'm thinking a person who can afford to push out $1500 for Reason probably can afford some pretty good hardware also, so it would sound better. But put Reason and MT on the same hardware and I doubt you'll hear much difference. It's all just a matter of what interface you prefer when editing your music imo. |

And Reason doesn't support VST's, although it has the coolest interface on earth. I find it sounding rather cold and clinical due to its own audio engine, but the interface helps people understanding how to make music and how it works. Furthermore, Reason on its own is quite complete. These two factors make it as appealing and popular as it is. |

The problem imho with reason is that you can imideatly hear when it's made with the software, this is as inge said because it sounds so clinical. You have to do a lot of patching to get it to sound warm and different then other reason productions. I like vst's so I don't like reason  |

It's really odd how distinct the Reason-sound is. I sometimes hear drum 'n bass-tracks made with it, and it's almost always there. I'm not fond of it: it's like my monitor speakers went ultra ultra ultra flat and removed all nuances that might make the music sound warm, nice and comfortable.
It's furthermore a mystery why they don't allow vst's. It's probably part of the marketing model (an all-in-one solution doesn't need extra dsp's, isn't it?), but it's limiting in a frustrating way, I think. |

I read somewhere that they find VST's to unstable and that usage of them in reason would make the program buggy. But I think that the problem is they can't find a way to intergrate reasons patching interface into a vst. |

i think the characteristic sound of reason is down to its compression and eq patches having a very distinct sound. also because of the limited number of synths and refills music produced on it has a distinct sound. that being said, i like the sound of reason, its very clean, and the interfact, although complex at first is pretty cool.

oh btw, i think propellerheads probably dont provide vst support so they can make more money, just a thought though. |

Reason is a awesome software  my friend got it, and you dont realy have to buy it m8s! You can also download it for free, (leegaly).
i think its like 3 GB or something |
