"Channel" in SFZ

So... what exactly is the 'channel' setting used for in the SFZ vst program? Yeah, it looks like I can set different things (like in a general midi file) to different channels, but I don't seem to be able to extend that to different tracks in MT.

What is the channel thing for?

As far as I know the channel setting in the SFZ-Plugin stands for the midi channel which can be assigned to a certain instrument in SFZ.

Example:

Channel 2: Piano
Channel 3: Horns
Channel 4: Strings
etc.

You can playback different SFZ-instruments by first duplicating the SFZ-Plugin and then changing the channel in the instrument window to the one you need.

e.g. you create some copies of SFZ (duplicate):

SFZ_1
SFZ_2
SFZ_3

Select one and change to the instrument window. There you can change the midi channel that should be used to playback SFZ. E.g if you want SFZ_2 playback the instrument : Strings you have to set the midi channel for SFZ_2 to channel 4 in the instrument window. Only if this channel and the channel in SFZ is the same it will playback the right instrument.

I hope I could help a bit. Smile

Isn't it possible to create another instrument, select the plugin in the instrument window and then select the channel. It would save some CPU.
