Hey s'up?
I have this idea I want to accomplish for a composition in Max, but suck at even the simplest of Math!
I'd like to' link' the buying date of a product out of my room to a starting point in the composition, where a recorded sample of me banging on that product is triggered. The sample lasts as long as the product has been working in real life, this starting and stopping of samples results in a sort of polyphony.
The first bought product date (C64 in february 1989) represents the start (0) of the composition, I've set june 2006 as the end (this equals 209 months) . The composition has a fixed time of 10 minutes (so 600 seconds equals 209 months, means approximately every 2.87 seconds a month in 'product' time goes by).
What I really want to know is: how do I know at which time point a certain sample starts & stops in these 10 minutes?
I've added the products I'm workingh with and the dates. The first date is the month in which I bought the product, the other date when it broke down (or if it's jun 06, then it's still working).
