A tracking group is basicly a group of artists making music artist by artist or co'op (as they normaly do), but release their music on the same group homepage. This makes it easier to find the music for the listeners, and you get new releases all the time. The group can represent a own type of music, but can always blend styles etc.
Being a part of a group is also more fun and brings the artists more together:)
You will still have all rights to your own music even if you are in a group, and can leave with your music any time (if cd-label etc).
Basicly its a group of artists making almost same music style (but not nessesary) or wants to represent a own style, releasing music on the same webpage with a groupname, forum etc.
I have been in a tracker group once and it was alot of fun:) |

some changed into music labels, while others just disappeared because trackers for a while couldn't keep up with mainstream music programs and people switched/quit or lost interest in the group.
Another reason is the impact of internet. People interested in music making programs most likely won't discover trackers with a google search. So it's a little known area compared to fl studio, ableton live and the expensive sequencers.
Most releases are also mp3/ogg fileformat because of filesize and bandwith restrictions. |

Well, I want many MT2 tracking groups! (That would have rocked!?) However, I'm not planing anything yet, I just hope there is someone who is interested in a group in the first place? Then see what we together can do out of it
Blaster: You can still release mp3's etc even if its a tracking group, and share the mt2 inside the group if co'ops etc? |

Yeah! it's a good idea:P!
I'm making ""the same"" (or similar thing) on http://elektromusika.es.mw, a "comunity" of electronic music.
(under construction)
Nowadays, we are 7 people from spain working on it, and I think it would be ready in short time (I HOPE )
Appart from that, I like your ""tracking group"", I like to participate on it!

tracking groups are great.
Together with my beste mate we've started one in 1994:
nature/\beat! -> http://xiphiuz.madtracker.net/nb
I was also in Blacktron Music Productions (BMP), but never did a release there.
I had several Friends: Kaotix, Thunderbass and Mad Max (in Explizit/etc)
I must say, the whole scene was really ok at the BBS times, but for now.. yeah.. maybe it's time for a rebirth
btw, my name was: beasty bass |

UpRough is an Amiga demo group which is more a tracker group rather than demo group. I don't think they even have any coder; they coop with other demo groups to release demos.. Or at least it was like that before.

Pyrozane; I'd like to start a group, unfortunately, my tracked output is kind of minimal. The only track I have completed yet was posted to the music section more than a year ago.
