Fascinating..
Even though I don't really see how this would actually revolutionise the electronic music making concept.. It's just some sort of expensive toy

Jean Michel Jarre's new toy I like the coolness of it and I hate that we couldn't experiment with stuff like this (creating new interfaces to music production) at my polytechnic while I was studying there . But like c-frog & G3ronimo I doubt this will be a revolution in music... |

i think it would be fun for a bit, but then id get sick of it after a week, and be left with a 5000 dollar (or however expensive it is) toy. |

But the control surface isn't really for free, is it?

Btw, to make things clear, the "fascinating" comment was not sarcastic. It is really fascinating that it's possible to control a soft synth such way..
But I don't think it would make the music making process so much more efficient and inspiring than the already several hundred years old piano keyboard already is..

i dont think for the likes of you and i its revolutionary or will change the way music is made. but i could see it appealing to disabled people. its much simpler to operate (after set up) and has a lot of visual feedback etc for people who wouldnt be able to play an instrument or work a daw. just a thought anyway. |

That's true!
Programming lines, which is necessary for those who for some reason (like a handicap) can't play the keyboard, will get a more fluently and inspiring way of making music.
Good point!

Well , apparently some cheaper hardware (like a webcam) can be used to experiment/develop some sort of system like the movie : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuQo25KYELg illustrates |
