Starting from the next version of MadTracker, modules made with an illegal copy won't open on legal copies. That also means that if someone uses an illegal copy and then registers afterwards, he won't be able to open his own modules.
So think twice before using a stupid DAT file generator or a full warezed copy.
If you have any information about cracked versions of MadTracker, please report them to piracy@madtracker.org.

Are you talking about the next version of madtracker 2.3 or are you talking about the first version of madtracker 3? |

The next release of MadTracker 2, so this will probably be in MadTracker 2.3.2, right? |

I used to use a cracked version of madtracker. Now I don't!
I will consider buying Madtracker when I get enough time making music. Honestly!
But... now some of my mt2 files are "broken". I can't open the mt2 files with the latest madtracker version. Is there a way to remove the "crack tag" or open the files with the latest madtracker version?
Again, i'm real sorry for using a cracked version of madtracker. |

...and what if you re-open the cracked mt2's in another installation of MadTracker (without the cracked dat), save it again (this time without the author information), and then open it in MadTracker 2.3.2? Or is that too simple?

But, what if I decided to buy madtracker? Heck, $20 isn't much... Would I be able to open my "cracked" modules then?
If not, it ought to be like that... |

answer is: not
read Yannick's post
He might be willing to fix the files if you first buy the proggie, but I doubt he'll give you the instructions. After all, you cracked his proggie once, why should he trust that you won't spread the fix-instructions all over the net? |

In case of MadTracker: no. It's too little money for too many extra features (wave export, homepage, serverspace, scene support etc etc). In case of major programs: let's say that works a bit different on my rig

Yeah lollie. It starts in 2.3.2. I just tried to open "atlantis" which was created with a cracked versiohn of Madtracker. It tried to load, told me the file was created with a cracked version of madtracker, and thendidnt load it. (btw, I guess its called "sounds of atlantis" in the music section here) |
