Posted: Fri Feb 08 2008 12:09 Madtracker crashes on VMware OSX 10.5 |
 |
Hey,
I recently went over completely to osx, I'm running windows in VMware Fusion. And I want to export some old material from madtracker in that. The thing is, every time I try to change something in the preferences madtracker crashes and I need to restart the Virtual Machine in order to regain comtrol.
I think it has something to do with the audio driver, when opening madtracker it runs. When opening an MT2 it crashes, and when applying to something in the prefs it also crashes. On those last examples the soundcard is checked I guess. I'm using an USB GigaPort AG Soundcard. Windows recognises it as a soundblaster but it's just an emulation since it sends it thru the coreaudio driver from osx.
Anyways, I tried a lot of stuff, do you guys have any idea's? I would realy hate to install windows on another partition just for this.
Thanks! |

I can't open an mt2, upon opening it Madtracker crashes... Now downloading an older version maybe it's one of those multi-core optimalisations... |

Hi,
I know that this is an old post, but I was wondering if you ever found a solution to the VMWare hang?
I used to use MadTracker with Parallels and it was fine, but I just switched to VMWare and now MadTracker crashes when I try to load a MOD.
Any ideas?
Maybe I should try VirtualBox
cheers

For anyone interested MadTracker works fine in VirtualBox on a Mac.
I had to copy then import my VMWare image to virtual box which is easy if you know how.... but I didn't!
First make a copy of your VM package.
Boot up into VMWare and start your *COPY* VM, then uninstall the vmware tools and shutdown.
Remove the extension on the VM package name... something like .vmwarevm
Open Virtual Box
Add a VM
Name it
On the next page select "Existing" and then browse to the .vmdk image in the above dir
Before you start up the VM go to the settings/system and check the "Enable IO APIC' box (your VM won't boot without this)
Start up the VM and voila... a working MT2
One thing to bear in mind is that windows will now need re-activating in this new configuration.
Hope this helps
