hey guys ... i've finished my first song, and i'd like your opinion on it. forgive me, i'm still learning, so i know it isn't as good as yours, but maybe one day with practice, i'll be able to remix this into something that can compare to yours.
any kind of criticism is appreciated
thanks!

Welcome to the world of tracking.
Your song is very unique, It really is. That said, if you like that style you should continue it and develope it, and learn some tricks like using the 001 and the 002 codes and using some effects but not for this song, it is perfect as it is. DL. some tracks from fellow trackers and see what codes they use, look at the mixer and automation window to see how they manipulated the sound and tracks. tracking is fun but it will never let you feel that you are playing live so when you get more skilled you could combine tracking with other scources like live sequensing tools, hardware synths or even real instruments like guitars or others. Madtracker is a very easy to learn tracker and you will have much fun with it i am sure. If you have a long way to school or work and you have a laptop. Madtracker is a great way to spend your time on the train. By the way if you are interested in getting to know the newest stuff and learning other techniques then you could buy or subscrube to a magasine called Computer Music, It can give you all sorts of advice and allways comes with a DVD packed with material such as samples, VST instruments and video's to learn some production tips. Anyway great Tune especially for a first timer. |

thank you so much for your input
yeah i kinda like that style, tech beat with a little clasical style piano mixed into a low bass.
on a side note, i know the mp3 is a big file. had to, because the first time i converted it in audacity, there were these distorted echoes on everything, and it really sounded bad. had to play with some settings to get it right ... anybody have ideas on how to get around that?
thanks again! |

I think Energy XT 2.5 is a better program for converting to mp3 and many other things http://www.energy-xt.com/ combined with MT2 it is a good solution I think, but I can't remember if the demo has mp3 converting. |

very Interesting track. As deepsleeper has already said, you should develop further into this style.
Here is my advice for this song. and this really is just my constructive opinion, you can tell me to go shove it, if you like.
1. Put a compressor on the bassline. maybe 2:1 - 3:1 short attack and medium release. and bring the volume up quite a bit. I can hardly even hear it on my system. (unless you meant it that way)
2. more volume on the kick drum
3. maybe a slight reverb (nothing drastic) on the piano. Maybe try a more realistic piano.. Steinbergs Hypersonic has some beautiful piano patches.
Finally. This is much better than my first song back in 94. so you are off to a cracking start.
nice work. opinion over. take it or leave it
Cheers
Dan
