Tip: ReFX Slayer. I've been using it for days, and it made me smile my favorite Kataclysm smile. You might be interested in checking it

Slayer sucks. Plug in a real guitar in AmpliTube, that's the real distortion! I planned to make my own guitar set, but that one has failed, it lacks power (too little high), but in one of my next tracks I will play the guitar (and bass) myself using AmpliTube.
I have tried messing around with slayer, but there has never came out something good enough to use in a metalmod.
Vile: mostly it doesn't matter how expensive (or how cheap) the guitar is to make good distortion samples. Mine was €350,- and I love the sound. Just plug the thing into your computer, record some samples, and cut off some high frequencies as you like (but not too much).

Well, 3 thing to say.
1. I'm online again!
2. Slayer? The same thing that comes with FruityLoops Studio 4? My friend showed this to me. Well, it can take place in techno, but in metalmods it dowsn't fit (i.e. is SUX)
3. My SbLive! doesn't have any amp (of cuz ) and when I plug in both guit and pedal the sound plainly sux, when guit only i get some noise 'cuz of sucking Line-In Port(when I use my speakers there is no noise at all, those humbacker kick ass ). Big Mo, that app you recommended has a Noisegate function? And soen it make saound good on soundblasters without any amplification? |

I don't think the ReFX Slayer and the FL Studio Slayer are exactly the same. I read somewhere about it though, can't remember what it was.
Most sound editors have a noise removal function. The one in cooledit does a good job at this. I have some mic noise which is not audible anymore when I processed it. |

Analog distortions only sound good when you record it on a big amp with a expensive mic in front of it... and since I haven't got both, I use AmpliTube, because it emulates the sound you will get that way quite good (after a lot of equalizing, expiriment with it). And by the way, little amps work as well, as well as cheap mics but you know what that will do with the sound quality . Just don't plug in the pedal direct in the computer, you don't get the EQ curve which a guitar amplifier speaker has, which makes this actual sound.
And if you get a lot of noise, the Gain is set too high. But Cool Edit can take it away very good as Blaster said.
And there's this little noise burst every some seconds... enough programs on the net which can take that away I think.

Without any amplification, you won't hear any sound! I don't think I understood exactly what you wrote there...
