Posted: Mon Jan 12 2004 01:25 Sudden volume change to zero - is it possible? |
 |
Here's the problem. I have a track with reverb effect enabled. I put some notes there, to make things easier let's say I put C-4 at the beginning of pattern and the sample I use is a pure sine wave. Now, when I suddenly turn the sample's volume to zero (using the volume column for example), the reverb effect still continues for some time, that is, the actual sound volume does NOT go to zero. But is it possible to turn off ALL SOUNDS altogether? I thought changing the Master volume to 0 would help, but it doesn't And reducing reverb's gain and time to zero also didn't mute the sound... So, can it be done somehow? |

You can do the following:
1. turn the sample volume to zero like normal (volume column or automation) where you want the sound to cut
2. set the track fx to "no effect" using the F0 command where you want the sound to cut
this will cut all sound on that channel. It's a bit of a hack, but it should work anywhere in a pattern. When you want the reverb back, simply use F00102 and you'll have the reverb back with the same settings as before |

Ok, so I tried it out. And for what!, just to see that Madtracker crashes everytime it reaches that F0 command. And what's more important - the sound didn't even stop (buffer seemed to keep looping in the background)
I don't know, I think Yannick should check it out if there's a bug somewhere.
Anyway, thanks for the tip Sunbuster

Anyway, I also uploaded this one-pattern module, if you need to take a closer look...
