tracking is slowly but faithfully dying... and now, after figuring out this problem from all da views and sides, i think that mt3 will be not actual if it ever be released. Instead of working hard on it, yannick is just improving mt2 and this webpage engine. there's a loot of time passes since mt3 was announced and what we have??? NOTHING but promises... every self-respecting musician now is leaving tracking and starting to work seriously with the serios progs. Tracking is occupation for BEGINNERS or maybe composing amateurs!!!! you'll never create real music on trackers especially if you want to denote your life to music or serious work with sound. stop believing promises and think for a while. MT3 will never justify your hopes. MT3 IS A MISCARRIAGE!! crashhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

woah... some feelings there... alright here it is
you say madtracker is a tool for amateur musicians.. but have you thought of the benefits of using tracking w/ an 8 track recorder.... probably not... well here you go.. those who have talent can make a fat beat and or melody on a tracker.... use the 8 track/ 4 track whatever 64 track and create some incredible music... but since you are a veteran musician you have the unlimited imagination to already have thought of this.... |

Theo, if you don't beleive in trackers, then why do you bother posting your rant here?
If you cannot make decent music with a tracker, that's your problem.

You are quite wrong, the tracking scene has never been much more intresting than now...Now that you can use pro vsti's (softsynths) and infinite dsp effects with some of the trackers, even old professional cubase users to start using trackers.
Still there is not one tracker who does not lack one or more pro feature but that is slowly changing...
Tracking is the best way of making music for alot of people, and that is not gonna change... |

That will never happen. Who would develop for beginners then?

Theo,
Please try to understand, that tracking is an real art, when people start of they get frustrated by bad results, wich is perfectly normal, since trackers aren't for beginners its more fore advanced users who have a good understanding about there idea's and the way they want to create sounds.
I've been working with hardware, logic, reason and ableton live for some time now, but what I miss in those programs is the precision ( especialy in beats ) that trackers can give me.
It takes practice to make good releases with trackers, but when you know how, you can make them in a shorter time and far more efficiently...

And one more thing, as Yannick use to say, if you are not satesfied with mt2 the way it is now, just change program damnit. You don't need to use mt2 just because you are waiting for mt3. Just come back once and a while and check for mt3 screenshots or even beta releases? You probably won't find it like next month, but it will be there... |

*flat look* Uh huh... and that's why millions of people still use the hundreds of tracking programs to this very day.

*looks down at ground and shakes head*
Another "Windows XP" related rant of confusion...
Look, dude, honestly, programs like this take time.
The reason why stuff like Reason or Cubase or, god forbid, even Cakewalk came out and get updated as quickly as they do is because there's a small programming team behind them.
MadTracker, however, has ONE main programmer behind it... Yannick. From what I know, he's doing all the work.
Now think of it this way:
All the big fancy commercial programs have a group of people, using all their input to make this one thing.
When you think about it, they could be better than what they are, couldn't they?
Whereas MadTracker has one guy behind it all. Sure, there are beta testers, and a lot of people put in suggestions and report bugs and whatnot, but when you get down to it, Yannick's doing the equal amount of work that a team of 5 or 6 does.
Plus, a lot of people have registered it, and a lot more use it with intentions to register it when they can.
The tracking scene is far from dying.
Infact, it will stay around for quite a while yet.
Why, haven't you noticed the few hundreds that still track on their AMIGAs? Or the people that use WINE in order to use Windows trackers on their Linux computers?
Methinks you haven't quite gotten the hang of tracking yet... |

Making good music with trackers shows off a proffesional knowledge. Making bad music with trackers shows off a beginning status, but hey, we've all been there.
This is exactly the same thing as with all other programs. Music is always music, but there are several ways of making it. Never ever put your trust on technique.

hmm, what is real music? I was going to do a whole study on the matter using the online edition of the Oxford english dictionary (link here if someone else wants to do it) and then post my results here, but then decided against it because it would only be a waste of time. But look up the definition for real, then look up the definition for music, and you'll see that anything that actually exists on some form of media and someone has called music, is real music. So you could use your keyboard and mouse, bash them into the wall in a rythmical pattern and thereby create real music. This should clarify the issue of wether or not Madtracker can be used to create real music
*too tired to care if the post made sence or not...* |

Read the Madtracker FAQ on this site once you have sobered up a little (takes his cue from lollie)
BTW, WHich God appointed YOU official tracker-basher anyways?
And What's with all the gibberish at the end of your post? Is that virus code or something? or maybe just proof that you might be a MIDIdiot? (Beatmax if you see this, please don't take it wrong) |
