heh, might look into it. But I think I'll stick with the original. Problem with me is I don't want to go the easy way, I want to learn everything the hard way |

Trust me, it's a great program to use. Really easy to pick up (Or at least easier than going straight to Flash)!
Like all great programs, it's not free, but also like most great programs... there are ways to overcome that... Eh heh
I've got a small example at my site:
http://au.geocities.com/chicagolollie
It's the witchy.bitchy.donna one. Not much, but it shows a bit of what you can achive |

hmm, ok, but that little piece would not be very hard to achieve using flash.
I've actually built a whole website on flash, but the problem was that it got slow and was difficult to update. That's why I want to learn more about flash so I can optimize the code better, and by integrating it with a database it should get much faster and easier to update.
btw. my IE shows an error on your witchy bitchy donna page:
line: 2
char: 29
Error: Syntax error
Code: 0
URL: http://au.geocities.com/chicagolollie/witchybitchy/index.htm
just thought you should know |

It was nowhere near hard to achieve with SWiSH, but true, it's only a simple site, and can be achieved just as easily with Flash.
Now, a whole website on Flash: It will be hard to update it, unless of course you get your site to gather its information from separate files. If your Flash site loads separate 'Text Files' off your server (Or wherever), then the only things needing updating would be the Text Files instead of the site itself.
(Make sense of it)

I had my links in text files back with the flash site, it worked pretty well. But all the other pages where made completely in flash, which made them hard to update and slow to load. But this time around, I'd have all the data in a database, and just use flash as the UI. Basically, that would be the same as having all the info in text files, only better organised. That way I can use the same information for my current site, and the future flash site, thus providing two alternatives (for people with *cough* shitty *couch* connections ) without having to update more than one post in the database.
But first, before I start to learn more flash, I want to get my mini-itx project completed, it's been sitting on my desk for ages already |

Yes, well dispite shitty connections --
BLAST THEM ALL!! BLAST THEM ALL TO HELL I SAY!!!!
-- Ahem, yes. Well dispite shitty connections (Depending on how shitty of course, be it dial-up or 'snail mail'), I'm sure that with the right amount of patience - which takes time and that's something we all don't have enough of (Yes, including myself) - the viewing of the Future Flash Site you speak not-so-highly of could be achieved!! |
