|
I heard about soundfonts long time ago when I had an Awe 32 card... I don't really know what they are...
So what are soundfonts? |

A soundfont is samples of an instrument, edited and compiled such that when you load the soundfont and play a note it will play in any key (optimally.) The advantage of soundfonts over simple wav samples is that when you go up and down the scale the soundfont switches to different samples to keep it from sounding distorted when you go out of the sample's range (again, optimally.)
First, download sfz soundfont player at http://www.rgcaudio.com/sfz.htm
Next go get some soundfonts at http://www.hammersound.net/
They have about everything you'll need there, except for a good electric guitar. I know, I looked.
In MadTracker, load sfz as a VST plugin. Then go into SFZ and load an SF2 file soundfont.
Good luck and have fun. |

My music I don't post. I don't make music, I make soundtracks for existing songs. That's the reason I started this tracker stuff.
The cat I got from an email. Trimmed the .gif file in Gimp (think PhotoShop, only free) and posted here as my avatar. |

Thanks, yea I know the Gimp. Uninstalled it. Didn't like something in it. But I've discovered two other great (GFX) programs: Paint.NET and Incscape. Inkscape is an outline program. Pretty fun to use.
Have I gone off topic? Yea...
http://www.rgcaudio.com/sfz.htm doesn't work at all or just at the moment? |
