Here we have another proof of QBical's exelent sence of fitting bits and pieces togheter. The tune has some similarities with "The lake", even though they are in completely different genres. They both combine some pretty wierd fx to a working structure for instance.
This tune has a very good drive in it, and I'll credit that to the well made drumprogramming and the numerous submelodies that run around the soundscape all the time. But even though the tune most of the time has a lot going on, it feels a bit minimalistic. Sometimes, especially in the more quiet parts, I'd like something more going on, maybe some very faint fx or something. Another thing I'd like more of is bass. The bassrange, appart from the basskick, sounds pretty weak. Some more power in that area could be good in other words.
The tune feels a bit too long. It isn't able to keep things interesting all the way to the end. I'd say the last three minutes could have been left out with good success, for a number of reasons. One, they don't bring anything that new to the piece. Two, from that point on the tune has a bit of this "I've heard it before" feeling. Especially the melody line played in channel 29 gives this feeling. That structure is pretty usual. Nevertheless, those last three minutes are also very well made, production wise, so I guess it's more a matter of taste to leave them out or not. Personally though, I think the tune would have had a very good and natural ending had it been ended at 7:22.
Overall, a very well made piece. Madtracker's featuers have been used very well. In fact, I dare say that if anyone needs a good song to look at how things can be solved and how to use Madtracker well, this tune should definetly be a candidate.
Okay there are some nice parts in the track, but they outshine other parts a it all doesnt seem to gel together with me.
The drums programming at most is quite well done but there are certain drum fills that seem to be out of time with the track. That goes with a few other elements within the track.
I think the tune has potential if the small things were ironed out and a bit more direction to the track.
The track dips into more quieter parts where I assumed I was in for something awsome but it just didn't deliver that "yyyeahh" factor once it had all kicked back in.
Nice effort QBical.
