Seismic prepared a trance/hardtrance track for us this year with meet her at the aut02.

Well, to be honest I think this track can use a great deal of work.
The melodic sounds lack a certain attack, try to give them a little more punch to make the track less muddy and wooly, also picking something other than a sawwave would do wonders in the spectrum creating a more diverse listening experience.

The drums sounds are quite alright, but there mixed completely to the background, together with the bass, if you bring them forward ( for example by using a compressor ) the track would gain a huge amount of punch and take off to another level.

The theme itself is highly repetive, try to create a bridge or do something more creative then your basic snarerolls to get from section to section and you'll automaticly create an more original flow to the track.

Try to listen to some of your favorite tracks in this genre and listen to them and try to re-create the production side of the track, that will help you learn how to create a good sounding trance track.

You'll get there!

So, I'm guessing the title for this track is a play at Da Hool's classic "Meet her at the Love Parade", right? Well, this track doesn't go down quite the same way as Da Hool's piece, but it's still a respectable piece of, uhm, hard trance perhaps? I like that the track is kept relatively clean of uneccessary fx. It knows what it is, and goes right down to business telling you about it without trying to impress you with swooshes and bells and all that. The melody is simple, but in this case works well, because the layout of the track doesn't suggest it should be anything more complex. This does however also mean there's nothing that spectacular about the track either, it's one in the line of many trance tracks out there. It quickly creates that "been there, done that" feeling in my mind. Maybe partly because the melody does sound very familiar.

Mixing is good here, I find all instruments have found their place pretty good. The kick could perhaps have been a teeny wheeny bit higher, especially in the climax parts of the track. The stereofield could have been used a bit more also. It's a bit onedimensional now. The quality of the instruments is slightly dissapointing though.

Da hool entering the MT compo ? Obviously ! Even the title refers to this classical techno piece.
A great 90's trance/dance track, well mixed, well produced but ... overdone. I mean, when I listen 2 this one, I feel I'm back 8 years in the past.

Within it's genre it's well tracked BUT why didn't you do a 2005-2006 edit of it, updating some of the sounds with the use of the modern VST set that could have done wonders on such a track, taking it 10 years forward...

I removed you *SEVERAL* points because of this lazyness : Why did you enter the old '02 version instead of - atleast - updating it ? This gives me the impression that you entered the compo just because you saw an "enter song" button on madtracker.org and not that your track has been worked out for us, and I think it would be unfair to give you a good ranking whereas other people worked especially for the compo.

Besides this, I however think that the people at Aut02 had a lot of fun dancing on this - I must say - well produced track.

Also something that I'll probably copy-paste 3 billion times within this reviewing process : NAME YOUR TRACKS ! This would give your audiance and us judges a better view of how your track is built, will help newbies to learn how to use MT and to beat you in next year's compo :)

a frantic hard trance track that has some good melodies but an instantly recognisable bassline taken from a classic hard trance track.

originality - its a generic hard trance track. the reason for the very low score is the bassline is "borrowed" from an old trance track, even down to the rhythm used.
theme - a dark mood with a decent combination of synths, hectic percussion and gated pads which would probably work well in a club.
arrangement - pretty standard structure, a lack of variation on the bassline throughout the track is compensated for by the introduction of pads and synths throughout, there are a couple of breakdowns which are quite well executed (particularly at pattern 0A).
technical - other than delay on the pads and volume fading no fx (mt or otherwise) have been used, the samples are of a decent quality, but there is no show of technical knowledge of the software. that said the fact that a convincing track has been created using very few fx is testament to the skill of the composer. tips for improvement would be to use reverb and compression on the lead and melody. maybe some filter automation to give the track more motion as well.
quality - the sample quality is ok, although for this track the amount of sound in it does mask any poor quality samples. the over all quality of the track is acceptable regarding structure, sound etc.

summary - a passable hard trance track but which is very basic in execution and commits the cardinal sin of taking credit for another artists work. as such it scores very low.
