Very wicked beats and main theme. Has a very positive and energetic dancing vibe, but also (or even better) usable as a soundtrack for an action event in a movie. Clever song build-up. It gets somewhat overcrowded at two minutes, but that problem solves itself through the application of a gorgeous flange and filter at the end.

It's a pity that the guitar sample gets pushed away by the sweeping synth & bassline. Drums manage to remain interesting to listen to. The synth solo at 3.40 is very impressive concerning composition, although it overdoes it concerning how high and sharp it gets.

Overall: the song would be utterly perfect for a commercial or a lead tune for a tv program. Excellent.

ooh, this track starts of nicely. I really loved the intro, uhm, banjo twiddling(?). Good ol' upbeat game music is what's going on here (I think/hope/pray at least). I wanted to grab a controller and play some old race games when listening to it. Lollie manages to keep things interesting and full of energy all the way through also.
I have some complaints though. I would have liked more power in the drums/percussions area. Basically, everything as far as drums goes could have been pushed up a bit I think. The snare especially sounds a bit weak and cheap compared to everything else. The banjo twiddling I talked about could have been a bit louder on occasion also. Other than that, everything seems to have it's place. Instruments could have been spread out a bit more in the stereofield I think. There was so much going on in the middle at some points, especially in the end, I think the track could have benefitted from, uhm, spreading it a bit. This when listening through speakers. When I listened to the track through my headphones everything sounded dandy, so... Do what you want I guess :)

Overall, well, I believe it will be one of the top dogs this year.

Seems Australia is not only a sea s*x & sun paradise, it's also the place where some great musicians live !

After reflecting us last year with some great relaxed ambient music, Lollie strikes back with this great piece of electronica.
Not much to say to this producer as he needs no real tips to improve within his musical style. While this one is typical of modern (quite underground) electronica - and thus "only" gets a 9/10 in originality - all the aspects of this style of music are mastered. I especially liked some cool breaks (like the organs at the end of pattern #8)

The main drawback is the theme. Of course, this style of music is not based on strong themes you can hum all day long, I think it could have been a real plus to add a catchy theme somewhere. I think that's something one can ask from such a high level producer Lollie is. I know Lollie is a Daft Punk fan and I think that this song would definitely have it's place on a daft punk CD, especially in their early years, BUT only as a B side because of this theme issue. DP's great hits (Around the world just to name one) had the same originality but included a heck of a strong theme. So if there's one point I'ld advise Lollie to focus one is the theme.

Also, to add some originality, try to add some lyrics or some more vocals (not just that 1-2-3-4 thing). A Black diva voice would have suited perfectly in your track. If you have no friend who sings, there are plenty of royalty free samples available online that would fit perfectly to this kind of music. Or why don't you just speak into the mic ? The graphic that is displayed when you load your track & your song text shows (as if we didn't already know it!) that you have a very special and twisted sense of humor. Why don't you add some humorous gimmicks into your tracks ? Music (as art vs commercial product) has to reflect one's "vision", and I think that your sense of humor is a key thing in your "vision". You don't have to be an extraordinary singer, you don't even need to sing at all, all you need to do is to let yourself go. Mics are the madtrackers best friends !

The demosounding jazzy lead that starts at pattern 1D (and makes my machine hang due to it's CPU use) is however a great plus. I think that if Lollie came up with a mixture of Norah Jones and Daft Punk (I know he's talented enough to produce us such wonders), not only would he have put ALL his chances on his sides to win this compo, but even to get a record deal !

Lollie also makes a nice use of the VST effects within his song, however I think more instruments could have been done using VST synths (Superwave and Synth1, that came bundled with MT, do great stuff within this musical style).

The breakbeat drums are nice, not original within the genre but perfectly done. The very synthy basslines, that almost sound vintage video-game alike are great too. Great job. I'm sure Souleye will like them :)

The auto-filter on the master track thing (Pattern 11), even if it's overdone (Used it in my latest track too so about overdoing it, well, I'm as guilty as you are...), is great is one of the great breaks this track features.

Overall a great track, probably one that will make it to this years top 10. Definitely worth the download, especially for people who like electronica, which means almost anyone who made it here :-)

Also something that I'll probably copy-paste 3 billion times within this reviewing process : NAME YOUR TRACKS ! This would give your audiance and us judges a better view of how your track is built, will help newbies to learn how to use MT and to beat you in next year's compo :)

P.S. : Maryleen, the singer I work with, found a name for your musical style (coz you definitely have one!). She calls your musical style "JabberNack" (Derived from a german word "Schabbernack" which means wicked & fun)

incredibly funky breaks track.

originality - yep. sort of combines a couple of different genres and some really great little touches (the organ, the elec piano) some great use of filters and the phaser (ill remember that technique in patt 11).
theme - aims to be funky, and it is extremely funky. at first i wasnt sure, but the organ in patt 08 rocks and i was convinced from that point on. the pianos, the bassline, the beat are all brilliant for the track.
arrangement - there are a lot of variations throughout, different instruments etc. only concern was the repetition off the bassline and not much variation in the beat. still there are so many cool touches and tricks throughout that these are only minor concerns.
technical - as mentioned before there are some really good tricks used (the phaser/filter thing really impressed me), the samples are great and well used. the vsts are all there to do a job and do it well.
quality - excellent from start to finish. although the beat could have been a bit louder this is again a minor concern.

summary - super funky track that is cleanly produced and with enough variations and production flares throughout to be deserving of a podium position.
