Mortal Terror

Probably Lord Set agrees with REM's 'it's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine', because his Mortal Terror surely isn't a happy track. Almost 10 minutes of atmospheric hardtrance with loads of different influences & fragments which have been melted together like a rhapsody. I will try to evaluate the song by picking out the various fragments, because this can't be reviewed as one single song.
The song starts with a dark & good introspeech, and then the first part starts with very good & atmospheric chords which turn out to be rather scary. A good overall sound here with psychedelic 303'ish lines, although it could use more aggresion on the 303. At 3.14 a thematical part starts, and suddenly I realised; this is ofcourse the unpublished soundtrack of the blair witch project! Absolute unequaled atmosphere here with lots of fx, although these are use multiple times which irritated me after some time. 4.40 is the beginning of a kind of hardcore-techno part (this time 'flesh is the fever' from the horrorist came up in my mind), which sounds rather dated, but that's maybe caused by the thematical aspect of the song.
A bridge build on scary strings is build at 6.00, and at 8.10 a sudden melody change is perceptible which I really appreciated.

Overall a very interesting song with a great atmosphere for cult fans like me. The most things sound full & professional and the structure of the song, with the endless variations are very nice to listen to.
To the artist: two practical remarks; the 303 at 1.30 needs more resonance or cutoff to make it more aggresive; it's too dull now. The fx used at 3.14 could use more effects because they are used multiple times; perform a different effect (pitchshifting, volume, panning, cutoff) everytime you use the same fx.
Some parts of the song are less strong than the rest (for instance the hardcore part); try to edit this song that the overall quality remains the same. But I love the idea of this song!

Good mix, but repetitive.
