It felt like the good old days when every thursday evening, half past 9, me and my friends were in utter darkness packed around the tv and the X-files started...purple sky is a very thematic song which really breathes a very good atmosphere.
The song has good melodies and gives gloomy & dark feeling. This mood/feeling/atmosphere remains through the entire song, with little, subtle changes of melody, sound and structure to keep the listener interested.
Negative are the beats which are used; great for these songs are 'alternative' drums (like orchestral drums, toms, weird alterations of normal drumkits) or regular drumkits. This song has a normal 4 to the beat drum, and it doesn't fit the song. Besides that the bassdrum which is used now is rather synthetic, while this genre demands a true, authentic, analogue bassdrum. A great addition to the song would be the implementation of complete sentences / storylines (oh, you gotta listen godspeed you black emperor to get the idea how massive such a thing can be).
Overall a good song, which, in combination with graphics, would be major impressive.
