Does anybody know where I can find a good beginners sample pack to get me started? And don't point me to the maz pack I already have it and it doesn't have enough samples |

Try downloading some packs from http://www.modarchive.com/waveworld if you can, because I tried lately, and it seems like they have some server problems. Also you could check this FTP site: http://ftp.osterman.com/pub/music/samples but it seems to have a speed restriction (around 2 or 3 kB/s) but I don't know for sure, just try it.
Keep up tracking!
P.S. Check out the thread Inge made, with lotsa sample sites. |

What I meant was: one big pack with all kind of samples, drum, fx, synth, vocals and so on. Not a pack with sounds from only 1 synth or 1 drum machine. |

Maybe someone should put together a small beginner sample pack with all the "necessary" samples you need. This is ofcourse for modem users.
The problem is that if they use the same samples all the time it'll be quite boring after a while
Well, maybe I could put something together sometime this summer..

well, I doubt you'll be able to find something like that on the Internet. I've never seen it myself, or you have to pay for it, like the Maz sample cd. I have spent a long time to get samples, but it almost seems to be the only way if you don't want to pay for it. |

Actually I know exactly what you mean. That's actually one strong reason why I started to buy syntesizers / sound modules.

If you're willing to pay a rather small amount of money for a rather good pack of samples, then I strongly recommend that you buy the Soundclips 12.000-cd's (if they're still available). 10 cd's filled with 12.800 wav's and the price is very reasonable. A great pack for both beginners and more advanced trackers. They have everything you need to learn the art of tracking
I could also recommend you to buy a NordLead 3 synth, but that would cost you quite a few quid, so I won't... but I'm planning to buy one myself though |

Thanks for the tip, MyztiQue. I have Maz's samples cd, and I want more... You can never have too many samples... ) |

Yeah that always pisses me off. I go to a sample site and it's like "Oh check this out we have 50,000 synth samples, conveniently available in their own individual 1-sample-per-zip-files!" And I'm sitting there thinking "Blow me, you magnificent bastards!" And in my head I hear them say something like "Munch the buttery biscuit, JJ" and I'm like "What the hell is that supposed to mean? Chod chokers!" So I feel your pain man.
cheers,

I think I still have a copy of ST-00: and ST-01: floating around somewhere... I could send it over. |

Oh sorry Phoenix, I didn't mean that as serious. Gotta watch sarcasm on forums...
ST-00: and ST-01: were the instrument packs from SoundTracker 1.0 from about 1986. I think I still do have them somewhere, but they won't be any good to you. They really are crappy sounds and they're 8-bit and badly sampled to boot. |
