Not as basic as you though, methinks

I'm not saying that your pic is basic, I just said that it doesn't require that much photoshop-knowledge to see what effects are used. The pic on the other hand looks good and I don't doubt that you have good skills with phtshp. So don't get me wrong.
Next week I'll graduate from three years of studies of multimedia, hypermedia, webdesign, heavy graphics and virtual-environments at what is said to be the best media-college in Sweden. I also work as Art Director at my dads company. So, yes, I've been using photoshop full time for the last three years. Amongst all the programs I've been using during these years (Adobe Illustrator and InDesign, Macromedia Director and Flash, Discreet 3ds max, Strata-3D and a couple of other progs), I've been using Photoshop the most.
And btw, I stopped using filters some time during the first year |

huh? you mean you don't use filters at all in your productions? why?
InDesign is supposed to be good for layout work. I'm thinking about starting to learn it, any comments/suggestions? |

I've learned that there are better ways to get the same result, without using the built-in filters. I feel the same way about using filters in phtshp-creations, as I do about using loops in music. I'm not saying that I concider filters and loops "cheating", but I just personally think that it's better to do it by hand instead of using some built-in feature (and that's what our teachers tell us to do). The only filter I've used in the last two years is gaussian blur.
InDesign is great for layout-work, yes. I strongly recommend you to try it out. It's easy to get a good overview of everything. BUT, don't missinterpretate the meaning of "layout" in this matter. It has nothing to do with weblayout etc. |
