Recently I discovered the joys of stacking MadTracker effects by using the F9 track output option.
I started by routing the output of track 5 to track 6, which gave me analog filter and reverb. I tried to add another analog filter, by routing track 6 output to track 7. But no sound came out then.
I'm just wondering, is it possible to stack more than two effects in this way? Perhaps I'm just going about it the wrong way.
Another question: I've started to use Linux for a lot of things lately, and it'd be really great if I could use MadTracker in Linux. I got MadTracker to install and run using Wine, the Windows emulator, but it doesn't play any sound. Whenever I try to play a track, it gives the Windows error "The specified device is already in use".
I'm guessing that Wine isn't getting the control over the sound card that it needs... but I don't really know. Any ideas?

Hi!
You can stack several more effects if you place an instrument in the tracks you want to chain which contains a sample with only silence. Set the sample to loop forward. Then it should work. Argee did a nice example of this trick. The trick must be here somewhere in the forum.
Here is an example file that Argee did:

Yannick did test MadTracker 2.3.2 with Wine, which worked. I don't know how current 2.5 performs. Can you also try 2.3.2, and see if that does work? |

Nice one, BeatMax! aRGee's demo was very instructive. Chaining effects is now my favourite pastime.
Regarding Wine: it was MT2.3.2 that I tried to run; I think the problem isn't with MT, but with Wine's sound interface - the intricacies of which elude me at this moment. I didn't have much time to try it out, so all I know is that I got the aforementioned error.
It's probably not worth the struggle, seeing as it already runs so well on Windows (which I still have). Does anyone on the forum use MT with Wine?
