Posted: Mon Jun 20 2005 18:36 V2M VST Plugin Problem |
 |
Hello MadTracker developer team and comunity! I am new here and first i have to congratulate the developers for the nice tracker! (i tracked on Pro/Sound/Noise/HardTracker/DigiBooster on the amiga)
I have downloaded the lastest MT2 version and the great "V2M Synth" plugin by FR, esp. for 64k intros!
Now i want load my old ProTracker (*.mod) tune into MT2 that works fine! But how can i replace any soundsample of this tune with my own generated V2M synth instrument?
And when i get the V2M SynthWindow, i can play evertime the same instrument, when changing the insturment in the combobox, i dont hear any other instrument ;(
Someone here, worked with the V2M synth engine and can help me a bit? would be really great... thanks |

Is this "V2M Synth" a vst-plugin? Iīve never heard of it and canīt find it on google or kvr-vst.
If so:
Open you *.mod-file.
Save as *.mt2-file.
Load a new plugin (vst-instrument).
An instrument for the vsti is automaticly created.
Now you have two options:
1. Go to the pattern window, and replace the instrument-number of the old (to be replaced) instrument with the instrumentnumber of the vsti.
2. Go to the old (to be replaced) instrument. In the instrument-window go to synthesizer, enable midi/vst, select the right device (v2m-synth in this case). And delete the samples of the old instrument (else, you will hear them simultaniously). |

yes, its a vst plugin! in demoscene its a well known sound engine (vst plugin/player) used for 64k intros. you can download the package at: http://www.1337haxorz.de/products.html#v2
i have tried your steps... i can load the V2M vst plugin and play ever only one tone... maybe you can continue me, when you tried the "really cool" vst...
btw, i am new to use vst! (i dont want use any sampled instruments now, if possible) Even i am working on a very small project where i want to compose tunes with V2M engine...
thanks
EDIT:
You can find the V2M synth at madtracker.org too.. just check: http://www.madtracker.org/plugins.php?query=farbrausch |

Here's the problem (taken from the readme):
Quote: |
Another "quirk" that results from the plugin's multitimbrality is that changing the program in the VST host WILL NOT change the synthesizer's current program, but rather it will only set the editor GUI to that program. To change programs
for playback, you'll have to send MIDI program change commands, either by manually inserting them as events or by a "program" field in your "track properties", whatever software you may be using.
So just treat the V2 like one external MIDI synth and everything should be fine.
|
And I don't know if such is possible inside MadTracker. Anyone?

That's the problem. Possibly this can be done via cc commands?

thanks guys... really sad!!
it would be so cool to compose tracks with MadTracker and this VST plugin for my future projects!
What program would you prefer to use for me? (should load .mod, .xm or .mid formats!) What do you think about FruitLoop? I need a very easy composing software (supporting V2M VST plugin without problems)... i am born with trackers |

hi, the plug works in multitimbral mode, just make more instruments and then assign the v2 to that instrument.[/b]
BUT! CC works, but only for Volume (correct me if I am wrong Yannick)
I've also discovered some vst bugs. I've loaded a V2 and a Synth1 and beng suddenly i've got somewhere near 4 synth1's and 8 v2's ...
it are 11 v2,s (midi) and 1 vst v2
plus
2 synth1(midi) and 1 vst synth1 |

Seems to me, that itīs the v2-synth that causes the problems. On a fruity loops forum they were complaining about this synth to.
Why donīt you try out some other vstiīs. There are a lot of other really good vstiīs as well. |

Because V2 is very 1337 for 64 kb scene haxorz. Apparently. Probably LoneStar knows everything about these scene-things
[try JunoX2. Now *that's* a toy for real men!]

Indeed! Who needs other synths, when you can allready produce a nice hoover.
Hmmm, when I try to load this Farbrausch-synth, it says it cannot find v2edit.dle.
ps junoX2 doesnīt need any stupid *.dle files. |

MIDI CC are fully supported with the CC pattern command.
The case of the V2 is a bit special as it reacts more like a real MIDI synth rather than a VST plugin. I can see to make a workaround if you all desperately need it.

@Yannick: I think it would be really cool if you find a easy and good working workaround to use V2 synth in MadTracker! (maybe some more ppl will move over to MadTracker for comosing tracks instead using Fruitloops, Buzz (crash everytime here) or any other complicated overblooded sound composing tool!
@aGRee: You will find two versions of VST in the original package! Just copy the v2edit.dle and the 114.688 byte version of the DLL into your MadTracker VST folder... works here!
@Inge: What is JunoX2 - a synth and tracker esp for 64k stuff? |

It's a rather rough and dirty Juno-alike VST instrument that creates massive hoovers, mentasms, sawsynths, and other dirt for drum 'n bass addicts like me
You definately won't need it. It was meant ironical concerning your determination to use V2, and Argee's response that there are also other nice plugins around. Why not choose the other end of the spectrum, I thought
