wav export vs soundcard

Maybe just a dumb question, but i was wondering if the wav exports uses the soundcard to generate it's output.
So a good soundcard results in a better output than a crappy one ... Just bought a new pc (AMD dual core athlon x2 thingy) at the moment i use a soundblaster live soundcard.
i want to go for a usb/fw external soundcard (m-audio or edirol).
Wondering about it coz i don't want to spend a heap of money if it doesnt improve the export alot Smile

Help would be appreciated alot on this one.

I think that only the computations made inside MadTracker are responsible for this. Check out the Simon V anti-aliasing competition. This is just based on the wave export, independent of the soundcard used. Therefore, your soundcard doesn't influence the construction of the exported wave*.

*it does ofcourse do so in an indirect way, since your soundcard (and the way it colours the audible output) influences you while making music. but that's another thing and way more complex, since italso involves, among others, your mood, speakers, what you had for breakfast and the last time you had a girlfriend.

Thx Inge for confirming the thing i thought but wasn't sure about!
I think i go for a soundcard with good inputs for recording (vocals 'n stuff) and low latency anyways ... next step is some good monitors and i should be allright for a while ..

Intresting link btw !!

Thanx,

Franklin

I confirm that the Wave Export (and Ogg Vorbis export) is 100% offline work. The soundcard is not involved in it at all. You could even export on a computer without soundcard if you like. Wink
