Sorry to loose ya, Stealth.
Though, try to think of it as "patience training" - Chances are you'll get your freakin' answer with enough time.
EDIT: I saw how long you waited.. Only a couple of days, man, only a couple of days. Some things will take more time to answer, y`know.

And sometimes you need to go on a detour in order to get to the answer.
In this case though, based on the information give by the original topic poster, I found the answer in post #6 (Martin's), so there really should be no complaining |

So if you found the problem, why are you complaining? If your Cool Edit still doesn't work with a higher bitrate, we wouldn't know, since you didn't tell us. |

he answered his own question quicker than anybody else could have, and then complains that nobody helped him, despite a few posts that could have solved the problem.. *sigh*
as for the other topic in this thread, in order to upgrade your copy of mt2 to pro regged with wave export you need to download the relevant files from the registered users area, which can only be accessed by (you guessed it!) registered users. or am i wrong? hence, if he is exporting, he must be using a h4x0red mt2.
NO SOUP FOR YOU!!!! |

Not really. After a registered login, you have separate links for "Install your registration files" and "Forum access" (along with others). So he might have clicked the one but not the other link. Not very likely, but quite possible. Or can someone think of a reason for don't wanting the registered users access? |

That depends on what you want to do with your exported files. The most important thing to do is to use sync interpolation, since that gives the best audio quality. The exact bitrate and frequency are dependent of the requirements that your next stage in mastering asks.

well actualy im not sure, so your saying that if you export your song with madtracker your not done yet? do i need to give it some filters or something in another audio software?
(that should explain why the quality is kind a bad when exported)
i realy like the sound when played in madtracker, but its just loses its volume when exported.
or im missing the piont.. |

If you want do some post processing, you definately should export at 24 bit quality and the best filter settings. Unless, you are making a DVD-Soundtrack or a DAT-Master, 44.1 kHz should be fine.
I use Adobe Audition for post processing. If you found your wave clipped, you should reduce the volume in MadTracker or try a VST-limiter in the master track!
I generally start with a subsonic filter. Then you should maximize the song. If you really think it's still too soft, you could try a hard limiter. But if you already have a total RMS at -14 dB or hotter, it's probably a bad idea.
If intended for MP3, Ogg Vorbis, save your song as 24 bit wave now and encode it, preferably with VBR if bandwidth is no issue! (Lame can do 24 bit waves, for example)
If intended for CD-Audio, you have to convert to 16 bit, which should be done with appropriate dither added. Some songs might benefit from 15/50 pre-emphasis applied before converting to 16 bit, but don't forget to set the emphasis flag then! |

this is a nice tutorial on how to master your tracks in Izotope ozone. Basically mastering always involves the same effects, so you could probably use this with effects by other brands too. Just try to find a nice limiter, multiband compressor, parametric eq, (multiband) harmonic exciter, and experiment a little.
*illegal*
or just check your kazaa or something for this program. |

I usually use the setting to export a song:
Format: 16 bit stereo
Frequ: 44100 Hz
Filters: 129-point
Gain: 4
Sinc interpolation
I you wan´t better quality, you could change the following parameters:
Format: 24-bit stereo
Frequ: 48000 Hz or even better 96000 Hz
I the volume of the outputfile (*.wav-file) is to low, you could try a higher gain (5 for instance).
If the volume of the outpufile is to high, clips and therefore sounds distorded, you should lower the gain.
If you´re totally sadisfied with the outpufile, you can burn it on cd. useally however, you wan´t to apply final mastering on the output-file (compression, equalization etc.). Therefore you use an external program like soundforge, Izotope Ozone, t-racks, etc or hardware.
Now if you´re satisfied with the sound, you can keep it as a wave file or burn it on cd.
When you wan´t to distribute it via the internet or store it in a less space-consuming way, you can convert it to a *.mp3-file. There are a lot of converters.
Usually you use these settings:
CD-quality: 44100 Hz, 16 bit stereo.
Bitrate 128 KB/s or higher (196 sounds better IMO) |

if you have adobe audition save it with variable bandwidth. in the save window choose .mp3 as file type, and click 'options...'. than select variable bitrate there, and a quality setting (i always use the highest). |
