hehe now if you want to get technical with it..
Yannick didnt actually propose an idea, It sounds like an idea that he has been pondering for some time now.
In his original post he merely set out to find out his market, ie who would by such a product. sending the feelers out.. a feesability study .. if you will
Thus we say well yannick sounds "OK" but.... more people would buy it "IF" blah blah blah..
sounds like a brainstorming session to me. nobodies taking control

We have confirmation!
No, about that KFC thing.
I've heard the thing about the KKK before, and I never liked KFC in the first place
I only went there for the chocolate moose, and that was 10 years ago!!
So, Yannick, are you actually gonna make this cd, or just leave us all hanging on a thread?? |

Now, as for the reason to HOW chickens came into this...
Hmm... Oh, quite simple really...

If the feedback on this thread is positive enough, yes.

Personally, I wouldn't want my track to the CD. Im not being ungrateful, I just feel it's not my best work and wouldn't want to be represeted by it.
If you do it for the next compo, you'll get better entires as the bonus of winning has an added bonus. A CD too.

I'm not sure if Yannick hasn't already skipped the idea of making a compo CD since the general opinion seems to be that making a dedicated promo cd that has some use also would be better, instead of just a compilation of tunes from the compo.
So Yannick, will it be a compo2002-2003 compilation, or an almost-timeless promo CD? |

What about a little compo for the compilation? Everyone who wan't to be on the cd uploads a track they made and we get hold on some judges? |

that would probably mean around 80 entries to go through again I think the idea was to get as many styles as possible represented, so people see the versatility of the program. How does one assure proper representation of each style in a compo? |

I doubt strongly there will be as much entries as in the "normal" compos. But yes, it would take some time, but isn't it worth it. I mean the cd should contain top stuff, and it could be hard to find it just like that... |

probably not as many, if everyone made a mental trip into themselves and honestly thought about wether they'd be able to make it or not. This on the other hand might eliminate some people that are really good, but are just too critical over their own work and therefore don't enter. That might be a risk one has to take though
I agree that some sort of elimination process is needed, there definetly are more talented MT-producers out there than what would fit on a CD. Some sort of compo is probably the only way to solve this also. But the question still remains, how do you ensure proper/enough representation of as many genres as possible? We all know trance/dance/house seems to be the number one genre with madtracker, but as many here have proved it's definetly not the only genre you can produce in MT. |

Or sunbuster, Eliminate those of us who are just getting into this and are just at the beginning of their tracking carrers.
And as for me, either a promo CD or a compilation cd are fine by me. Both ideas sound good. I would buy either one. But the big question I have to ask myself is"which one would we all get the most benefit from?"
My thoughts on the matter, straight and simple.... |
