Hey, I'm new to Madtracker and very excited about making my own music. I had been interested in finding a program like this for years. I played with Fruityloops a few years ago and was quite let down by its lack of quality. I stumbled upon Madtracker on downloads.com and decided to give it a try. I won't be using the pluggins, just producing my own music with the program itself. I have to confess I'm having trouble figuring out how to use Madtracker. I've only had it for a day now and only messed around with it for an hour or two, but I feel quite confused. Am I to understand there is a manual on the way? I for one can hardly wait! Shocked

I've read the articles and Madtracker is sounding better and better the more I read. But I'm frustrated that I can't sink my teeth into it as of yet. I skimmed through the tutporials and I still can't figure out how to make a single loop! I wish I knew more on the basics of starting to make notes with Madtracker.

Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated! Cool

Hello Neurolanis, and welcome aboard,

1: http://www.madtracker.org/documents/quickstart.xml should _theoretically_ explain the very basics of the program. I nevertheless understand that it can - especially in the beginning - be too overwhelming to understand the fundamentals.

The two other things you can do:
2: listen to other modules, such as can be found in the music section (http://www.madtracker.org/music.php) or the compo results section (http://www.madtracker.org/compo/compo.php?rankings=big3). Pick a song that connects to the style of music that you want to make, play it inside MadTracker, and check how things are done.
3: experiment. click on everything, and check what it does. We won't eavesdrop, so there's no threat of social humiliation.

Good luck, and post back with results, sheer utter depressions, or perpetual joy.
