 |
I have a decent PC with plenty of RAM, etc., and run lots of other audio programs with no problem (Sonar, etc). I have a Fireface 800 firewire audio interface.
Anyway, here is message I keep getting. I'm anxious to get this working, because I'm looking for a tracker with rewire capabilities. Thanks for any help:

Did that error popped up while you were starting it in ReWire mode? (I.e. when a ReWire host was already active.)
Weren't there any crash report?

No, Yannick. This happened while attempting to run the program for the first time. The above message was an endless loop. The only way out is to Ctrl-Alt-Del and stop the task that way. After getting out that way, there is no crash report offered.
I tried uninstalling the program, then ran Windoctor, and checked the registry for anything left over (nothing was, the uninstall was clean), then reinstalled. Same problem. Thinking that perhaps the download file was corrupt, I downloaded again from a different location. Same problem.
I should be more clear though, and mention that the above screenshot is only of ONE of the small handful (9 in all) of similar messages, all reporting different problem addresses. I keep closing them 'till I get to the one that just
repeats, then I'm forced to end the task. Hmm, I just switched back to MT while writing this email. The messages all came back. I can repeat that, switch apps, return to MT and get the repeat of the messages, always ending with one that just repeats. I wonder if I'm dealing with some kind of video problem here? I'm using a Radeon 9800 Pro. Again, no problem in any other apps. |

That's with 2.6.1, right?
I'll check what it could be...

I think I've narrowed down the problem. I tried starting up my computer, but leaving my external Fireface 800 firewire unit turned off. MadTracker loaded properly. I then turned on my rack of gear where the Fireface is installed. MadTracker continued to work, and recognized the Fireface, and played back a tune via the Fireface. I then exited MadTracker, and immediately tried to get back into it, leaving the Fireface turned on. I again got the errors mentioned in this thread. So, I think that narrows down where the problem is. It must have something to do with compatibility with external firewire boxes (or, at least the Fireface 800). I'd be curious if any other users of MadTracker use a Fireface, and what their experience has been. The Fireface represents my ticket to ASIO land, so I wouldn't want to consider using MadTracker without it. |

I dont use a fireface but i do use the firewire Motu828, and besides for its own quirkyness about the OS being aware of its presence (20% of time ive got to turn it off and turn it back on) it has no specific problems with Madtracker, and I must always have it on before starting madtracker, otherwise it wont be recognized. |

My best friend has a Fireface 800. I am temporarily living with him and since he has nice Mackie monitors hooked to his Fireface, and since my silly Inspiron 6000 laptop doesn't have any line input (besides, it would be noisy anyway), I installed the Fireface 800 drivers onto my laptop. Tried MT 261 right off the bat=same errors that dude above had. Same error boxes...etc.; only can Cntr-Alt-Del the MT program. Everything else seems to work fine: Adobe Audition, etc.
So, I will try turning off the Fireface 800 first, then try launching MT =>>>AND IT WORKED THAT WAY. I wonder why? |
