Viewing sample size / list ?

Hi all,

I'm just started messing around with Madtracker 2.

I noticed there's no way to view the size (in bytes) of a sample (eg; piano_C4.wav) which already is in the MT2 file.

Also there's no way to view the complete list of samples in the MT2 file either. I noticed this when, there are more than 1 sample for a instrument. I just thought being able to have an overview of the data of the file would be helpful.

For example, a sample that I use for only 2seconds in the whole song is taking up 5mb. Then I can reduce the sample quality since it's only used for 2 seconds, or do something appropriate.

So the question is : Is there a way to view the size of a sample , and also to view a list of all the samples ?

P.S : What about an overview of effects applied on each channel/track ? The current method I know of is to click on the up/down buttons to change the track number after opening the FX window. (FX icon nearer to the middle left of the screen).

Why not just cut the excess of the sample off?

You can use the mixer for this. There you see the effects, routings and VSTs linked to each track.

Edit: Deleted some explanations which would make me look like a total fool in the light of Inge's reply.

It's sort of a hidden feature (not really, but not many users will use it often), but between the icons for the pattern and icq view there is an icon for the built-in browser. It provides information about the exact patterns, instruments and samples inside the current mt2-file.
