Hypersonic has some great ones, but it doesn't come cheap, or magnus choir which is quite simular to choirheaven (Not free btw)

I tested another (free) VSTi once, but it sounded, I guess, pretty much same that You described here.

Maybe you should find or record some good "ooh" and "aah" and maybe "hmmmm" -samples and make several copies of them and use relevant effects (reverbs, eqīs, spatial, change the pitch a little...) to each of them...

Yeah, just remember you're not allowed to distribute it then. Some SoundFonts could also be worth trying.
