Posted: Thu Oct 12 2006 17:21 Beginner: Changing instruments - still sounds the same |
 |
I have spent many hours experimenting and reading but the .mid files I have been using still sound exactly the same as when I first loaded them. I have been through the tutorials, forums and other help available and have loaded numerous samples, etc.
To give a simple, specific example I have a .mid file which sounds like a piano playing, how do I apply a sample or instrument to make it sound like a guitar:?:
I nearly uninstalled MadTracker but thought I would post for help first. If anyone says 'read the tutorials' I will uninstall it! Thanks. |

Okay, so I won't tell you to read the tutorials.
Well I'm unfortunately too lazy to try it out myself, but... I think, if you have loaded MIDI files, the MIDI instrument used to play that instrument is defined in the synthesizer tab in the instrument window. So to change the MIDI instrument, go to synth tab and change the instrument number. To disable them alltogether uncheck the "enabled"-box. Then, in theory, you can load samples normally to the instrument and it should play with those samples.. Maybe? Don't know. Hope it does! |

If you import midi track, MT would play general midi sounds by default. Most simple thing you could try is to delete instrument and create a whole new instrument (with VSTi or samples you want). |
