Why won't some MT2 files export to wav?
I am wondering if it is because they are converted from xm files that were cleaned with the ever famous xm shrinker - shrinkxm.exe ....
OR is it something I am overlooking?
Some of my converted xms will render others wont ...
I would like all of them to convert ...
Please help

hmm, perhaps somethings going on with madtracker thinking you're not the original author, in which case it won't allow you to export... but why that would affect xm files you convert I don't understand... |

Well I just tried loading a variety of .xms ... and it seems that all of my old xms are not able to render... converting them to mt2s doesn't help either ...
In the author field on the parameters pop up it says "Unknown"
Is there any way around this?

I'm afraid there isn't. If you see "Unknown" that means the XM or MT2 was made with a cracked or corrupted copy of MadTracker.

They were not made in Mad Tracker ... They were made in Fast Tracker 2.08 ... I haven't tracked anything that wasn't with my registered version. Infact, I listened to a few xms in Madtracker then decided to register right then and there.
I am talking about old xms that I have been working on up until the point I made the switch to Madtracker. I want to continue working on this body of work, but I feel like I am either going to have to throw the last few years of work away or start copying it to a new empty mt2 file, pattern by pattern ... which to me seems crazy ...

This sounds strange. Any chance you'd send me one of thoose XMs that won't export?

Sure thing ... Any restrictions on the file size?

I'm having this same kind of trouble described in this thread just now. I was remixing this project, and they had supplied a XM file (plus vocals in wave) made with Fasttracker 2. Now, I imported it, finished the remix, saved and now the parameters show that creator is "unknown". That is incorrect, since I made this remix. The trouble is, that I can't seem to export this into wave since the option isn't on in the menu. I'm using the 25RC3 version.
Does the export still even work for other modules than my own? I remember exporting them before. I find this strange.
So, could someone please tell me how to export this kind of module into wave? I'm supposed to master this stuff and pass it forward soon. |

There was a bug in the XM loader that prevented the beta to export XM to WAV. This will be fixed in the next RC or final release.

Thanks for the forthcoming fixes.
Well, first thing I did in the remixing process was converting the xm to mt2, so it's now an mt2 created by me -not from scratch but from the original xm - and I still can't export it. I can't figure out a reason why this is so.
When I loaded the original .xm file, Madtracker did not show a splash screen of "this module has been created with cracked version of madtracker" which I saw appearing with some modules on maz-cd, so I strongly assume it was a legit module. (Why would anyone want to create xm-files with a cracked madtracker?) I understand that there must be these kinds of methods in use to prevent cracking and such abuse, but I don't think there should be restrictions set for registered users. |

If you loaded an XM then saved it as MT2 with the beta, it will have the same problem actually.
When the next version is out, contact me by e-mail and I'll see to fix your module.

Thank you, I will! This way I save the trouble of having to remix this track all over again! There's no insane hurry for this, they'll just have to wait until it's fixed. |
