There's already CTG, which afaik works well. Not sure the internet needs yet another community site. Perhaps a better idea would be to develope the music section here on this site further, get some sort of qualification process for reviewers, like homemusic.cc had, get more standardised reviewing guidelines, create artist profiles here etc. |

Yes, but you don't have hosting there and it's not source-only.

Yes I could do that, but then it would be for MT2 only.

Sorry, can't do that unless I tweak the database. Feel free to tell what you voted and what you wanted to vote. We will do the mental correction.

Hi! I wasnt sure if you were relating to the madtracker site (community section) or if the question was in general. TraxInSpace was a nice place for modules and also easy to maintain for users. Modarchive is nice but it will take a long time untill a song is uploaded. The problem with communities is the mass, lots of songs, lots of reviews, lots of data to maintain. But I really would like a TIS-Like community again including the madtracker format too. |

does it realy have to be source only?
I mean, normaly I woudn't complain, but now that we have VST support it makes it kinda hard to publish the raw mt file. But then again, maby it's nice to give webspace to upload source files and also alow people to submit links to MP3 or Ogg files.
That way all formats can be downloaded and reviewed the way jens said!

hmm, if you plan on servicing all source formats for free, then you can expect quite a heavy traffic load, like beatmax said, and huge amounts of data that need to be stored. After all, there are a lot of people out there looking for free webspace for tunes.
The option of giving a link instead of uploading a source file should be given though. Personally, I have all the webspace I need. Since I upload all my tunes to my homepage, I find it unecessary to upload a track to another site just to get reviews.
But hey, I'm not against the idea, just hope you have a check on how much traffic such a site in the end will have. At least you shouldn't give out webspace without a limit. Perhaps a limit of 50 or 100 MB per user would be good... |

There wouldn't be a quota, but both the uploads and the reviews will be filtered. There would quality control to prevent pure storage... rejected modules would be stored in a temporary space where they would stay for 3 months or something (where direct download would still work).
This will limit the amount of data stored.

Quality control? How do you define if a bad module is pure storage, and isn't simply just someone's first attempt at tracking on which they'd need feedback?
About reviews, I simply can't stress enough that you get a reviewing guideline (Inge's document for instance), and require every reviewer to read it and follow it. Imo, homemusic.cc had this down very well. They had a screening process for people that wanted to review, and they had good reviewing guidelines that the reviewers had to follow. Eventually, when they saw that a reviewer was following the guidelines and was keeping a good standard, the reviewer would be allowed to post his reviews directly without any screening process. But there would still be a link under each review that people could click and report the review to a chief, if they thought the review wasn't up to standard. Some sort of reward system for the reviewers would be good also, for instance having their music featured on the front page or something... |

Yes, I miss something like homemusic.cc, I don't feel that comfortable at ctg anymore since almost every user in the forum are just trance guys. As I've said before I like it but there must be an understanding that this takes up a huge amount of time to work out well. |
