I just started using madtracker and I now just heard about acid from a friend. I was wondering how madtracker stacks up to acid in terms of ability. What I understand so far even though I haven't actually tried acid is madtracker is free compared to acid pro's $300 price tag. But I would probably go with acidxpress anyway. So basically I'm wondering if it would even be worth by time to download acidxpress. I hope something like isn't like blasphemy to you people.

Isn't Acid some kind of crappy magix like program? (just checked the website, and yes it is) That means that you can use loops to create music. Not really creative, and you don't have much influence on your music. Where are you going to get your loops from? If you get them from internet you'll be using the same ones as everybody. Madtracker is a program that lets you create music from scratch, i'm not going to go into it, i'm not the long post master. I'd say madtracker is a better program for making music, but acid is a completely different program.

Double that. I use Acid for mastering (multitrack wave organiser), and definately not for composing music. You could better see Acid as a tool to mix down the individual audiotracks (if you have the wave export) than to use it as your primary tool for composition. But this only is valid if you prefer to work sample-based. If you prefer to work loop-based (and yes, we're getting in the grey Magix area now), then maybe Acid is a better choice, since it's focussed on that usage. Inge

I can't stand Acid (er I mean the program). Sonar has a groove clip looping that's just fine for my looping desires. And MadTracker can loop just fine with minimal effort. Yeah put down the Acid and then pick up MadTracker (and some LSD if you can find any). Hope that helps! ~Enon

Acid is not only for loops though. Acid Pro can handle midi & vst(i) just fine. It's certainly no magix music maker like program (though it can do that as well). Though I agree acid is easiest to use if you have loops (and I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to make your own). Imo Acid is very powerful for remixing purposes. Where you use bits of the original and create new arrangements before you work them out.

Some basically use madtracker for creatin new stuff and I can use acid to remix my songs together. And Enonimis, I'll see if I can get you a hook up for that LSD.

acid is for little kids.... no pun intended! (note: although it can be used to mix...but I think I would look into all other available options before using it)
