Yeah, I saw this on TV the other day. Looks great and promising. Sadly, I think this is Lucas' last SW movie he's making. There seems to be no plans for the next trilogy (episodes VII-IX). The franchise has not been making much money with this last trilogy, so I guess he's giving up. People/actors are getting old too. Sad

well, to me it looks like they're using the same copy/paste armies that they've used before, and it seems the movie is all about that big final battle once again, so I don't expect any big thrilling storylines... but I do however look forward to seeing Natalie Portman on screen once again Drool

Personally I think that there should be only 6 parts at all. So it is ok if Lucas does only part III. Then it is a round thing. No more additions. Following parts are mostly not that good , e.g. see Matrix. It was a great inventive story but one part would have been enough.

oh yeah, as a hyperspace member I was waiting endlessly on this teaser, it rocks!!

@ sunbuster the first part is just a composision of the old films, from the part 'lord vader...' 'yes master' 'rise!!!' and on the new footage is shown...

IT ROCKS!! Very Happy

agreeing there! I have this theory: if a movie was planned from the beginning to narratively span over several episodes, then all parts will probably be equally good (see LOTR for a good example). If on the other hand a movie was made and sequels are planned only on paper as to be executed if the first movie is a Box Office hit, then the sequels will probably suck (see Matrix & The Blair Witch Project for good examples). I just hope the sequel to Pirates of the Carribean will be an exception to this theory of mine Rolling Eyes Cool

Yeah, it was meant to be 4 to 6 episodes at the beginning (two trilogies). Actually, sometime before Episode V: TESB in the late 70's, there were plans for 12 episodes, but then he decided to cut that back to 9 (i.e. triple trilogy). This timeframe is where the 9 episodes rumor/plan pretty much started. This eventually got cut down to 6 episodes by the time Episode VI: ROTJ released. I confirmed my findings and it looks like George said that six episodes is it, which he declared back in 1999, when Episode I arrived. Burn-out with SW is most likely one of his reasons. So yes, it was pretty much 6 episodes afterall!

So, it's a final goodbye to the StarWars story then, after this movie releases... gee, that's almost 30 years long! I still remember going to the premier, back in 1977.

The SW story/universe does live on in comics and other related products.
