 |
Hello Everyone!
My name is David and I'm new here...
I've made a tune with MadTracker, called Skull Island; you can download it from http://skull.madtracker.net/mp3/skull.mp3 if you'd like to hear it.
(Please don't let the 7MB [edit: 6.35MB] size deter you! )
I'd love to hear any comments you might have.
Dave

Thanks, Souleye and Mephi!
I'm glad you noticed the drums; I spent a good bit of time on those. Do you mean refreshment in terms of melody, or the synth tone? I got the lead "plink" sound from Mod archive's standard Juno 106 sample set, so I guess it's bound to sound a bit stale - though it did seem to fit quite well!
I think I'll patch up some VST's for my next tune, though...
Souleye: I know you like chip tunes too; did you recognise my chippy SID sample? I love all those C64 tunes, especially Martin Galway's. |

Ain't this an interesting tune! Goog variation of instruments and melodies, and interesting beats.
Some widening of the panning, and stronger mixing (put the BBE sonic maximizer of prosoniq dynasone on your master, followed by a limiter to prevent clipping and unbalancing) would definately make this a sweet tune. Thumbs up!

Thanks again for your comments and suggestions. I'm mixing & tweaking (on college computers) as we speak! MT's small size lets me take it with me and install it wherever I go...
I'm still figuring out how to use the compressor; there seems to be a fine line between "tight" and "overblown" on the low end! Probably best to mix it first though, right?
I won't get to finish it til I get back to my home computer in two weeks' time - will upload then.

Here's the updated version, with new EQ, compression and a few extra little ornaments:

If you'd like to listen and give feedback, it would be much appreciated!

Bottomline is that I still like this tune I was cleaning my desktop, and then stumbled upon this song. Turns out to be that it was related to this forum thread. I must start keeping better track of what I download and what I listen.
Eitherway: nice!
