ASFAIK it doesnt allow to control vsti-instruments. You can applly vst effects to the drum patterns. So you can only use samples for the drum patterns.

Hope I could help,

Regards

That would be really tight. Here's the question though. How many people currently use the drums pattern feature, and if it were to be improved how many more would use it then?

I have quite a few ideas on ways to improve the drums patterns, one of them of course being a VSTi mode. I will be posting my propositions for this once I feel that I've covered everything thouroughly.

Beatmax being that your the resident VST guru here at MadTracker let me know if you have any ideas as to how the drums pattern could work with VSTi, and any other ideas that may come to mind.

I can imagine that, and i'm thinking 'why the hell would i want that?'. I can't use the edx command in the drum patterns right? Plus, i never used 'em before, i don't feel like studying.

what is hip?

you can use more than edx... you can assign a note to any chosen tick between lines

but i prefer standard patterns anyway

I guess this is an endless issue. Some prefer them and some don`t. Well I think drum patterns are a good way to create beats very fast and on the fly by just drawing in some patterns. Sometimes you can create really complex beats. Another point is the compact view of the drum events, I instantly see where the rythm goes. Thats hard to see if you have notes in the track view containing letter and numbers. Again its a matter of taste. I for my taste would love to see drum patterns controlling vsti instruments.

It shouldn`t be to complex since vst-instruments are controlled by notes in the track view.

Principle:

NOTE INFORMATION -> VSTi -> Playback Sounds

The problem is that drum parts arent related to notes like in the track view, they are directly related to the samples. So if there would be a vsti it wouldnt know which note you are playing.

But how if it would be possible to match certain drumtracks in the drum patterns to a note?

DRUM PATTERNS -> Drumsample to Note Mapping System -> VSTi -> Playback Sounds

Maybe this could be done into an additional setting. Like this:

Kick......: (C-3) #---#---#---#---#
Snare....: (D-3) ----#-------#----
Clap......: (E-3) --#--------#-----
Hihat-c...: (F-3) ##-##-#-#--##--#-
Hihat-o...: (F#3) --#---#---#---#--

(could look a bit strange without fixed fonts)

So its just a way of handling the note information to the plugin. I am not that well known in the internal functions of vstis themselves. I can imagine how it could work.

Yannick is this possible or am I completely wrong?

Oh yes and I`d love to see some more tracks than 8, maybe 16 for more complex beats. But thats just a wish.

Tell me what you think about this idea, maybe I am on the wrong way.

So far!

Keep creative....

I think the only thing that works is the volume column.

ofcourse you can use edx for vsti's. edx is just a command that tells the tracker when to trigger the note.
