Trance is not my thing, but this melody certainly is. It needs some more sharpening (it's too sweet now, and needs stronger and more gripping character). The filters work, but you could try a more aggressive bassline (the original Ferry Corsten remix of Barber's adagio for strings had a loooooooovely bassline) or a more 'get you by the throat and push your head in the sound' lead synth. A short vocal thing (such as the 'wow!' in Push - Universal Nation) could also help giving more character.
Furthermore, the drums need more drive. Make a strong bassdrum - closed/open hihat - clap - additional percussion combo to give it a nice and energetic flow.
Ergo: you got a lovely feeling for melody, but need to show more character.

That's what threw me off in this song. I liked it (altough the hihats are too static if you ask me), but i say no to the transposition! |
what is hip?

Hmm, not really my stuff. I'm more into the aggressive, psychic and druggy trance ... Nice stuff otherwise, I think Inge said most of what could be better, if you like to..

hmm, didn't do anything for me, sorry. It's pretty basic stuff, the lead melody repeats so quickly and so often it gets boring fast. The instruments are the same you hear all the time, and they're not used that originally. The drums are a pretty straight forward 4-by-4 thing, with not much variation.
From a technical p.o.v. this is good stuff though. The song could work as a transfer in a DJ mix, but it wouldn't be one that gets the crowds jumping imo. Needs more originality. |
