 |
Hi
I wrote a track last month (its more trance), which was posted on ctgmusic and (apart from 1 good review), got slated by 3 other reviewers. the good review was from a fellow madtracker, and i wondered what other other madtrackers thought of it.
there is an mp3 version here:
www.am-1.co.uk (its in the music section of my site)
or an mt2 version here:
http://am1.madtracker.net/AM1_evolution.mt2 (youll need a pretty fast pc to play it as there are alot vsts used)
any comments would be much appreciated.
peace

Well, right up front I can say it sounds pretty ordinary. Technically I don't think it's bad, but it lacks something that would set it appart from everything else out there. You've used some pretty standard instruments, and the structure of the track is pretty standard imo. I like the variation in the drums in that the basskick changes to a breaks kind of variation without much heads-up. The rest of the drums pretty much play out the same across the whole track though.
I don't know, maybe I'll find some hidden gems in it when I listen to it again, but the first impression was that this is another one that get's lost in the crowd. |

With Sunbuster. I had this song on my desktop for weeks now, because I find it not bad enough to throw away, but not good enough to keep it and review it. I definately like the variations on the drums (I first hoped for a Hybrid/Sasha-alike breakbeattrack with trance influences), but the rest is so, so, so _average_. The tunes are nice, the sounds are nice, the atmosphere is nice, but it's nothing more than that. It must be sharper! Crispier! In-your-facier! Unconventionalier! Otherenglishadjectivesthatcan'tbeinflectedtoier!
Sum up: you definately have the hearing to make great tracks. The drums drive, the melodies appeal, the structure is rocksolid. You just need to find your own identity. The platform and skills are there. Now, the essential ingredient: creativity. Go girl go! |

thanks very much for feedback gentlemen (you're a funny guy inge!), as always the madtracker forum is a great help.
with this track i was going for a 2001 trance sound, which i think i got pretty well, but this means there is a complete lack of anything new or imaginative. still i really like the mood and the actual tune itself, rather than there being anything groundbreaking about the production. i think ill remake it though at some point when i get my inspiration back.
cheers guys

Tried to download the music, got a white new window up when clicking the link that very rapidly closed, - and then nothing more happend....
So, seems like I'm experiencing some wierd problems downloading from your site. Any suggestions why? I usually don't have this problem from my own Flash sites etc.
