I liked the laidback tempo/atmosphere of the song. I liked the singing and the way you used the delay on the chorus, perhaps the delay made a litle to much sound at times.
The drum samples are perhaps a bit boring, and also the drumprogramming could be made more interesting with a litle variation here and there. Not much - just a litle tweacking.
The song has a lot of potential. |

With Goose ^^
The vocals, here comes the bashing, sound Turkish. Really. And, as Martin said, the drums are boring. The song overall needs a rock-solid theme. It's too swirley now. |

Thnx for feedback.
But I will bin it... Radio screwed up my mind last night, and I plagiarized that Spice girl unknowningly during the really late hours... I actually thought I was onto something of my own, but heck - it wasn't working anyway.
Inge also clearly pointed out my voice was Turkish, and that's also great to get confirmed (that a Norwegian living in Sweden becomes Turkish). However, I still need to do my own vocals, as I don't have any great singer waiting for the record signal when I need it. I know my voice isn't commercial friendly, but it will have to do good enought for demos.

Hi Magnar,
OK, besides it's too short, it's a good song. Not exceptionnal but for sure radio ready, except for the voice maybe (altough it's not that bad).
Is it done in madtracker (except for the vocals) ?
I'll meet with my producers tomorrow, may I show them your track ?
Keep up the good work ! |

Hi TNK /ATK,
Yes, everything is made within MadTracker 2.
Ofcourse, - if you find hit potensial in it and your producers like it too, please let me know. - And I will do my best to salvage the mt2 file from the trashcan right away!

For the record: the fact that I find your voice sound Turkish does not mean that you should drop singing. Definately not, even. I'm not fond of it at the moment, but that's irrelevant. I think it's really cool that you do so, and you should definately experiment more. I wish good old N0N (where did he go?) was still here, since he did *amazing* things with his voice, and his first attempts where also far from ideal. After some time, I totally started digging his stuff.
Therefore, keep singing. Please, I might add. |

Well, I liked it.
There are some details that needs to be polished though (quite a bit). But other than that, great work!! |

MagnarTBL, I played this again today - and it hit me that you can achieve a bit better sound by running it through an equalizer - I have very limited skills with this, and I am just starting to learn myself, nevertheless I put a little example online which toggles between the original mp3 and with some EQ boost (mostly to mid and high) - Now, I didnt spend a lot of time EQ`ing so dont exepct too much - but in my (and my girlfriends)oppinion it makes some of the sounds come out a bit more clearly.
My quick example: http://martin.madtracker.net/example.mp3
If you are interested - you can read more about mixing in this excellent tutorial:

Hi Martin,
I think your example just shows how important EQ really is. Maybe not on the master output, like in your example based on my WaveExport from MT2, but on different tracks enchanting the frequences of every single instrument in the mix.
Thnx for showing and learning out some of your musical experience. |

ok.. maybe more people need to take this into consideration.
Your lyrics should be wayyyy higher... in fact, for most songs that ive heard lately (by us non-signed-just-makin-good-tune types) the music overpowers big time.
Don't be shy! trust me... i do it too.
but everybody likes to hear the words.
oh yah. try putting very little effects on your voice too.
from a listener's perspective, we hear things even if they are not really up front at all. ie. delay and reverb. keep that in mind |

Strangely, nowadays all the producers & even the singers I know want to have the lyrics more in the background. Maybe not that much in the background as in Magnar's tune, but definitely, putting the vocals in the background becomes more and more trendy. Because of the low quality of the singers maybe ?
I'm working on a song - "La puissance de l'amour" (the power of love) - with a young local RnB singer (who'll have her 1st singing lesson this week and therefore is still far from being a perfect performer, but she's not worse than many of the ones I can hear @ pop idol or star academy...), and she always bugs me to mix her voice more in the background, as most local modern rnb singers do.
You can listen to an excerpt here.
Besides her need of singing lessons, is her vocal too in the front ? Too in the back ? Just allright ? |

As a general rule, when you turn down the master volume the vocals should be the last thing you hear. |
