I know ive been posting alot of new tracks but ive been quite productive recently (taking days off work sick to write music, im seriously addicted )
http://am1.madtracker.net/AM-1%20-%20False%20Dawn.mp3
this is a sort of ambient track (but with big beats, any ideas what genre it is?) i made for a friends website:
I was very happy with the way it turned out so decided to share it with the world. Any comments or suggestions would be very welcome.
cheers

Hmmmm, nice, but it doesn't make me wanna listen the whole track...
I think you've used a bit to much reverb. Somehow my ears don't like the sound. I may be wrong, but I think the mid-tones are a bit to high also. The song has a relaxing feel, but it sounds crowded to me. The beat needs a crompressor and the strings are neither clear or vague. The piano piece seems to have no kind of structure...
Besides these things it sounds pretty good, very relaxing...

I know the feeling ... sometimes it's difficult to go to work when a great flow of inspiration comes up
About the track:
It is really something else, very dreamy, it's really great for a website, it's not "into your face", and relaxing, defenitly not annoying for the website visitor!
This tune didn't really worked for me though, its too repetitive IMHO. I think that the beats are somehow lacking, a pumping beat would destroy the atmosphere for this song though.
I would love to give some better feedback, but i'm not really into the ambient stuff. Your trance tracks are more my taste and i love most of them ...
Maybe some ambient listeners can give you some better feedback than myself ?!!!
Anyhow keep it up with your productions !!
cheers,

When I was actively listening to it, I got a bit bored of the sine/bell-melody. I was also a bit worried that the track wouldn't be able to carry itself throughout the 12 minutes it's playing. Later however I had the track on in the background while reading an article and I found myself enjoying the ambient background it created. In short, this is one of the best ambient /chillout tracks I've heard in a long time, works very well in the background. For active listening however, it's a bit too repetitive. I'm glad you didn't make the beats more big beat (to me big beat means the beats are at the front, think Chemical Brothers or Fatboy slim). The way they are, they create a nice soft beat section, well suited for this type of music.
from the technical aspect, it sounded a bit mushy sometimes, but maybe that's part of the charm in this case |

I like it a lot. After having picked up a rather influential minimal techno-addication, nothing else is boring anymore. 12 minutes therefore works for me.
I personally like my ambient less 'commercial', but I definately like its fatness. Back in the days of Antiloop, stuff like that was always put on the full-length album to offer some variation. I furthermore like the blurryness of the strings. Just make sure to keep the beats crispy, so that one does not start doubting his speakers.
Consider doing yourself a favour, and get The Campfire Headphase of Boards Of Canada. They do some pretty similar stuff, only then get rich from it. They are more focused on authentic/acoustic sounds, but I think you will definately and thoroughly enjoy their atmospheres and melodies. |

I love this song! - Definitely something I consider have running on my mp3-player when I am out travelling. Relaxing, as I read books 10000feet high above the ground, in transit between countries.
Great work, mate!
