 |
Hi Community,
This is my first try in D'n'B. Thanx to saine for helping me with the levels of the drums. Tell me what you think, its still in progress (have to learn a lot for my studies so I can work on it only a bit.
The track is called RollinBeats
you need a player that supports ogg. Winamp3 does this ASFAIK.
Tell me what you think!
New genres are nice and challenging |

The music reminds me of that of Ape Escape (Don't worry, that's a good thing)
Cool |

Yep, still nice, but I still think you could get 3-4 minutes more choon in there The piano melody could be developed a lot for this purpose for instance |

You mean I should make the part with the piano longer and more developing? How about some background effects to give it more atmosphere?
Help welcome

Yes, like instead of only having 2-3 notes in the melody, create a melody with 10 notes Some more fx might be good also, but I think the atmosphere was pretty good already, so I would be carefull with adding too much |

Some good bass there, nice details in the drums and some interesting ideas...I'd have a think about the structure more, though... there seems to be more breakdown than solid song and doesn't live up to its promising start, which won't help the DJ mix. DnB is all about the whole set, not just one song. Plus it's just not heavy/twisted enough. But hey, DNB is hard to do well, despite what some may say. ...so a good first effort. Keep working on it.
I have to disagree with Sunbuster, too. -- I know he can take it --- In DnB "melodies", Less is definately more. So use the amount of notes you have, but make each one count for more, eg, different lengths, different reverbs, different delay rates, different filters, triplets, double notes, etc. But keep the riffs simple, but satisfying.
Remember - DnB is not music, it's a massage.
Hope that helps a bit. |

hmm, you could be right there Now that I think about it, this tune might not be as much DnB as it is some form of atmospheric jungle or similar. So to get it more DnB-ish remove any form of melodies (leave the piano as it is at least) and concentrate on effects full on
and goose, don't worry, I can take it, but do expect a visit from my gerilla soldiers any day now might also be my friends from the place with round rooms and an excessive amount of white coats. Don't know really, cause I left it to my top-goon to handle |

I think Sunbuster is right.
A good melody helps to set yourself apart from the standard crap ! There are so many tracks that sound pretty much the same because they all make use of the same d+b-standard loops.
Here are some examples for what I think are good tracks:
EZ-Rollers "Back To Love" (Moving Shadow Rec.)
Roque Unit Vs. The Dream Team "Good To You (?)
Fellowship "Coming On Strong" (Run Recordings)
Jagged Edge "Rock Baby" (V Recordings)
Thatīs enough!
