I had been working on a song, and saving repeatedly as is my good practice, and i loaded a sample, and then saved and it said it had an error saving. well then i saved as to another file name same thing. ok so quit madtracker and restart the whole thing, when loading a either track, all the samples are gone! same with the .BAK. Well now ive got a song i put about 6 hours into today that doesn't play at all. I have all the samples, but i don't know what instrument their in, as well as many were wav editted in mT2. I love mt2, but i can't stand for this. What happened, is there any hope to getting my song back? |

If none of the files even the .bak ones do not seem to have a bigger size, I'm afraid your samples are lost.
Were you using any VST? A crash in a VST might have stopped the saving process.

yes, i was using several vsts, the vst window was full. I guess if thatas the case ten im going to just start saving my tracks with numbers at the end, so even if i loose superamazingtrack19, i can still restart at superamazingtrack18, and not completely over. |

ive got another version of the song that has the first half of samples loaded (better than nothing), and ive got all the patterns still saved in the other. Is there a way i can surgically transplant the samples into the the song (not one by one, but i could do it if i have too) |

it's not possible afaik....but it would be a very nice function indeed....btw....the loss of samples has happend to me too, but i didn't have any vst's running...so it looks like it's MTs fault... |

Same thing has happend to me before, so I always save with different filenames (I usualy end up with around 50 files of the same song). Another fine thing about that is that you have the possibility go back to an earlier version of the song if you feel like you are on the wrong track also. |

While the best solution is to find the problem and fix that. No matter what the cause, i nice option in the next release would be...
now were given the option to make the .bak files. An option to have a 2 or 3 deep .bak file might be nice, (every save, you save a bak(.bak1), bak1 goes to bak2, and bak2 goes to bak3, and bak3 is discarded. It seems easy enough, and using the current config options not everyone would have to be using 4 times the space of their tracks if they didn't want it. This would have saved me in my particular case. |
