Hi there!
Could someone please give me a hint on how to pan drums? How should I do to make them fill the stereofield in a good way?
I guess this is different for different sorts of tunes, but any general?  |

Well I guess traditionally it's something like this...
Bassdrum - centre
Snare- centre or almost centre
Hihat's - a bit left or right, depending on the viewpoint
Toms - The same as hihat's. I usually use the drummer's viewpoint and put then running from left to right with the highest on the left and the floor tom on the right. Maybe about 40% left-30% right. Depends on the volume etc.
Cymbals - Left and right, but not too much...
That's just the basics I guess. You can always do as you please. But basically I try to put them so that they are quite equally balanced. |
